With all the great reviews I had high expectations. Often, little hole-in-the -wall joints are the best. I'd be fine with that if the food was awesome, but it wasn't. Walked in, didn't know it was counter space only, no tables or booths, so we got two wobbly, hard counter stools. I ordered biscuits & gravy and hash browns, she ordered an omelet and toast, which cost us about $25. The omelet and toast were ok. The gravy was a nice brownish color, but very bland with a few specs of sausage in it, and served almost cold. The biscuits tasted more like room temperature commissary (dense and dry) than hot, fresh, scratch made. The hash browns were deep fried patties (like McDonald's). Plenty of parking in the gravel lot. The service was good and the people were nice. I was very disappointed with the food. Cash only folks. I support local independent businesses, and wanted to love it. I don't enjoy writing critical reviews, but I do tell the truth about what I experience, be it good or bad. I wish Betty and her crew well, and hope for their continued success, but...
Read moreThe food was OK. Was not worth 37.00 for 2 20oz sodas in bottles no refills. 1 sweet tea bacon cheeseburger with fries. Cheeseburger with fries and a grilled cheese with fries. I could have eaten at mid city for that. No one ask us if our food was OK like they were doing for their regulars. The price I was charged did not add up to the prices on the menu. Very disappointed. The stools were a very uncomfortable feature.
Responding to the owners response: Your response comes from anger not a professional business owner. You never addressed the concerns of me being charged prices that drastically differed from the menu prices. Or the fact that we were treated like outsiders. I grew up in TN and have always supported small businesses. Due to your childish response you are assured I will not return and I will make sure that anyone else I can warn against going there is warned. I will say good luck because it sounds like you...
Read moreWe were visiting the area and wanted to find a mom and pop type breakfast restaurant. Betty’s Stockyard Cafe was a perfect choice. All the positive reviews far outweigh the negative comments a few people seem to have. The servers were great. The coffee was great. The biscuits and gravy were great. The plate sized pancakes were great (2 for just $6.99) and both were served warm. The wobbly stools were all part of the country’ish environment and the prices were great. We initially ordered 2 orders of pancakes. The waitress warned us they were big and one order would probably do. It did. When they came out I was wondering if they needed a snow shovel to turn them over. The fresh biscuits and gravy were delicious. I can’t remember the last time I paid only $24 for two full and hearty breakfasts. Wish we had a Betty’s Stockyard cafe near me! I’ll visit again when I am...
