This is the worst experience I have ever had a at restaurant! My family and another family took our kids to the christmas parade and we always to go IHOP after because the kids love there christmas menu. This is a tradition we have made. This was our first and last time at the ihop in kingsport tn. We usually go to Johnson city. But we were told they was packed so it would be a wait. We only waited about 7mins and was seated in the very back of restaurant with no one else in the entire back of restaurant. We waited about 20 mins and finally got out drink order then another 15 mins or so before the drink came out! We waited 1hour and 38 mins before our food came out! When our food did arrive it was cold! So I ask to speak to the assistant manager Adrian smith. She was nice at first told us she could remake our food or she would just take the food off our order. We decideed we had waited long enough and just said we didn't want the food. So the waitress brought our receipt and we owed the entire bill. I ask to speak to the manager. That's when Tracey Stinson (the so called manager) came out. I ask why we was being charged for food that we didn't eat and he replied we was charged for what we got! I told him I was not paying for food that was never touched. He said he was calling the police so my family and the other family waited for the police about 10 mins I guess when he realized we wasn't leaving till they came. He came to the table threw the area director's card at my husband told us to get out and to NEVER come back to that restaurant again. He put his finger in my face then my husband got up and ask him to step outside he yelled and acted crazy then the assistant manager called the police finally. Our kids which are 6years old were screaming and crying and scared. So we stepped out side waited for the police to get there and explained what happened to them. They just couldn't believe that they were called out over something crazy. They filed a report we left and will never be back at an ihop again!!! Worst...
Read morei am handicapped with a service dog. i was seated away from everyone staring at tables with chairs on top of them and employees enjoying breaks.
the hostess was about to seat me in the middle where there were lots of empty booths but saw the dog and sat me in isolation, they segregated me. the server wouldnt come close and it was obvious he was put out having to leave his section to wait on me.
the server said a total of 11 words to me. brought me cold food and syrup. and never filled my water or came close enough for me to flag him to help me out
when i told the lady who said they were manager, she told me why was i upset it was only breakfast, then its only pancakes then its only food each time i tried to explain what happened
at one point she tossed my credit card into a sticky mess, i said syrup, but she corrected me and said it was soda (like that mattered - except soda would have been there for a long time to get to syrup consistency). then she held my card out and pinched it so that when i tried to get it she made out that i was ripping it out of her hand then said did i want her to make a big deal out of me ripping it from her hand
there is lots more...
i called the customer support and the lady was great, said someone would contact me.
a man called and started his conversation with "im sure it wasnt intentional". but it was. he had already taken sides without hearing from me or his employee, so he said.
the ADA considers it illegal - not just bad form, but ILLEGAL.
...exclusion, segregation, and unequal treatment of individuals with disabilities
i was excluded, segregated and treated unequally. then the man said "if thats illegal"
i am a poor, handicapped person who saved and paid gas and time to go for a small "treat" and was treated as a leper.
i want to warn any disabled, do not spend your money to go to a place that hates your mere existence
i normally use yelp but when i said it was bad here in kingsport and that ihop had a 2 star rate, the man said "well i...

Chef Cat here!
We're here @ IHOP today eating breakfast @ 2:00 pm. It wasn't long upon entering IHOP that we were greated by friendly smiles. The host/hostess was a bit unusual. By unusual, I mean he/she didn't even crack a smile.
Was he/she having a bad day?
Was he/she anxious to go home? Did he/she recieve some very bad news @ home and couldn't concentrate?
You never know about a person until you've at least walked a mile in a person's shoes.
The reason I say he/she is because I wasn't quite sure if I was talking to a young man or a young woman. But either way, he/she sat us, my husband and me. usually, I would know the difference almost immediately. But I really couldn't tell which was which.
When this person disappeared, we were greeted by a very friendly server named Joanna. She took our order of coffee and a gravy biscuit combo which consists of eggs cooked to order, hash-browns, crispy bacon and of course, gravy and biscuits. Rather, one biscuit. They split the biscuits open, place them on the grill, and then, when they're just the right crispness, plate them and on the plate before they add the gravy. Delicious, right? It was! But you still have to watch their gravy. If it's not piping hot, which it wasn't, we had to send it back to get a little hotter. Otherwise and overall, it's excellent. The bill reached $34.54. Plus a $5 tip. I paid a total of $39.54 for my meal. Was it worth it? I thought so, and so did my husband. Joanna was running all over the place making us as happy as possible while keeping a smile on her lovely face. This young woman is not only earning her tips, but she knew the true meaning of Southern hospitality. If you've never experienced it for yourself, you'll know when you encounter it. Because you'll feel really good inside about yourself and othets around you. If the service ever outweighs the temperature of the food, you'll know that too.
As for me? I would definitely go back. Just as soon as I'm not confused...
