Having never been to or heard of this place before, and this one just opened, we thought we would give it a try. Looked at the silly small menu online, and thought, surely there must be more items than that when we get there, and decided to drive through. There weren't. Seriously, there are like 5 options. 3 strips, 4 strips, 6 strips, a sandwich, and a kids meal. That's it. No different flavors, grilled, spicy, buffalo, different sandwiches, desserts/shakes, or geez even extra sauces! The main sauce is a "Cane's" sauce, which just tasted like you mixed ketchup with mayo and some other sub-par spices. No effort, no spice, bland flavor. At least give us some bbq sauce, sweet n sour, mustard, or something else besides that or Frank's Red Hot in a tiny packet. Like I've never had that before... Ok, so the selection is really bad. They must have a really good product to stay in business with fried chicken strips and a sandwich as their menu items. SURPRISE! The strips are boring too. There was nothing, and I do mean nothing, special about these. Regular breading, if not too light, slightly underdone, and worst of all, they were tiny! The taste of the chicken certainly wasn't anything to write home about either, tasted like unseasoned white meat chicken. Really, if you've had hospital grade chicken strips, you've had these. They aren't bad, they are just really boring, and holy cow, how in the world do you sustain a business on these things?! The rest of the meal was just as par. Regular school cafeteria style crinkle fries that were totally bland, with no other sides as an option of course, some sleepy coleslaw, and a sad piece of "Texas toast" (a small warmed up piece of buttered bread, and possibly the highlight of the meal). You want to know what their "Extras" are? More fingers, more fries, more of the same sauce, more toast, more coleslaw, lots more sauce, and a bucket of sauce. All the same bland sauce of course. I'm not joking. No desserts, no other sides than what you already have, no shakes, sauces, anything. It's one of the most mind boggling places I've been to. If you want good chicken, go to Chic-fil-A, KFC, or BWW (all close by); or at least save the time and money and buy some frozen chicken strips.
EDIT: Matt, thanks for that well thought out review of their food, I'm sure we are all better off having read it. Yes, I went since it had just opened, and wanted to try it either way. Not sure what your problem with that is. Also, if Cane's is "adult" food, then kids these days have...
Read moreWe frequent at this Raising Canes quite often. However we will not be going back after last night. Me and 5 kids were headed out for an event and we got caught in the middle tornadic weather. Sirens were going off, phones were blowing up with tornado alerts. Had I known we were going to have tornado warnings we wouldn't have left our house. We were originally going to look for a place to eat before our concert anyways. So decided to stop at Canes to take shelter and go ahead and eat and wait out the storm. We pulled up at 4:50, the weather is still crazy at this point but the sirens had stopped. Me and my kids get out and start running towards the door. The staff members were all in the dining area watching us scatter towards the door. The doors were locked and they shut off the lights. We had to run back to our car and go somewhere else for shelter. I was still trying to process what had just happened. Trying to play devils advocate that maybe that was their policy to lock doors during tornado warnings etc. But something tells me that wasn't the case. However, or whatever happened to do the right thing? It wasn't like there were hundreds of people knocking down their door for shelter. It was 1 mom and 5 kids. The least they could have done was open the door and say they weren't open for business anymore but if we needed shelter we could have came in! Then to find out that there was indeed a tornado that hit Kirkwood at 5:00 last night 10 minutes after us being there is very upsetting to me. Someone needs to teach that location about hospitality and common sense. I pray this doesn't happen to...
Read moreMy husband, son and I went through the drive thru on Nov. 1st 2024. The food we ordered was okay. I got the 4 piece box of chicken strips that came with coleslaw, crinkle fries, and Texas toast. Best part was the chickenstrips with the Cane's sauce to dip them in. The coleslaw wasn't very good and for some reason came with 2 lids on it; the top lid was dirty like it'd been used to cover coleslaw but the lid below that was actually touching the coleslaw was clean so I ate it. My husband ordered the same meal and his was fine. He had the same opinion on the taste of his coleslaw. My son ordered a chicken strip sandwich meal and he seemed to enjoy his. Seems like the chicken strips have shrunk in size from my memory of eating at Raising Cane's a year ago. The teenager taking our order was pleasant enough but a bit hard to understand because they were giggling about something another employee was saying while taking our order. We did receive everything we ordered, which was nice as that doesn't happen real often when going thru the drive thru at...
