A little restaurant, barely any room. Fills up quickly. The food is pumped up to be spectacular and is average. The prices are WAY TOO HIGH for the quality of food. You get a bigger burrito at chipotle, or one of the other Mexican restaurants with the same quality of ingredients. With a bigger margarita to boot. The owner is a great guy though, he exemplifies prefect customer service. Our waitress was wonderful. There was an issue where a phone was lost and we called to see if they could find it, here is where the issue on customer service rests. The guy sitting at the front desk (with the dreds), said he would check. We got hung up on. Called back, and the bartender assured us the phone was not there. So we venture back to the location. I ask the guy at the front desk... He tells me he actually never checked to see if it was there. I ask the bartender, same response. It wasn't until our wonderful waitress took the time to find it for us. And surprise the phone was in the location. My issue is that you guys should really work on customer service. If more people were like that waitress, it would be worth the hyped up glamour it claims. But with people not really giving customers the respect or decency they deserve... It causes one to question the whole establishment. I think there needs to be some training on hospitality and not thinking that because it is a trendy spot, it warrants aloofness and haughty behavior. Some of the best places are due to their customer service. Plus, we are from out of town! Probably won't venture there again unless we can guarantee we have the same waitress and bus boys. Front desk guy needs to work on some things. All in all it was truly average because of...
Read moreThis place was recommended as excellent place to eat. Not so much. We decided to give it try for the first time and because it was my husband's birthday. You walk in and it IS really cute place and the hostess was nice. Someone brought some chips and some salsa that were remarkable. After waiting there for a few minutes the server arrives. Doesn't say hello just ask what we want to drink. My husband orders Margarita because that is what they're known for and I get a Dr. Pepper. I also asked them to bring a cup of water for my daughter. It came in a to-go bowl with a lid that they stuck a straw through; so, no kid's cups, No kid's menu, No kid's changing table in the bathroom. Not a kid friendly place, I guess. But they have high-chairs? Ugh. We finally order. Since no kids menu, their protocol is to do a half order of an entre. I order my daughter the suggested beef and cheese quesadilla half order; but why if it is a half order do I have to pay the full price? Anyway, the quesadilla beef was unbelieveably oversalted. Ugh. I order a calabacitas, spinach, and mushroom fajita without peppers. Unlike the quesadilla, it was bland and spiceless... and it came with peppers of course, so I ended up picking them out. The manager made a stop at our table to check on our meal and we did let him know it wasn't satisfactory. Next the server has to make a visit to investigate, but had to imply that I was expecting too much from my no-peppers request. Ugh. Then the manager never can came back to say sorry. The only good thing was that my husband's dinner was very good and my daughter loved the spinach queso; couldn't get enough of it. 3/5 - probably...
Read moreFive of my family ate dinner recently at Chez Guevara. Had high hopes, but in the end, I was sorely disappointed. It's a quaint dive and I really didn't have any problems with the noise level. But, what is up with their wait staff??! Initially, the waitress who got our drinks was attentive and friendly. That all changed when (name deleted) took our order. He was impatient and unfriendly - It would not be a stretch in the least to describe him as just rude. After he took our order, I watched him work the other tables - this guy did not smile at all and it seemed everyone around us had the same poor treatment. The wrong food was initially brought to our table, mistakes happen. Chips and salsa while we waited - I liked the green best. Chips were not replenished. While waiting for our food to be delivered, I finished my beer was ready for another drink - finally, 10 minutes after I wanted it, a waiter stopped by and had another beer for me (odd thing is, I never told her I wanted it - psychic maybe?). Food was ok. I had the Elvis, it had good texture and flavor but I really am not a fan of the rice. Had to wait a while for the check, (name deleted) brought our two checks and the only thing he said to us was "you will have to share this pen, I only have one" No thanks, no come again...... but that's OK, I won't be revisiting anyway. To the owners of Chez Guevara - your wait staff needs some training and it would be nice to see some smiles (are you really all that miserable?) Bottom line, I can spend $75.00 for dinner for three at a lot of restaurants who will at least be friendly and professional - I will be going to...
