Indulging in the flavors of my homemade Indian cuisine has always been a joy, deeply rooted in lessons from two remarkable womenâone from India and the other from Bangladesh. Growing up amidst New York's vibrant culinary scene, renowned for its exceptional Indian fare, my standards are high. Today, my husband and I embarked on a late lunch adventure that surpassed all expectations.
We began with the Fish Pakora appetizerâa tantalizing blend of perfectly seasoned breading that rendered chutney unnecessary, yet it complemented the dish impeccably. Each bite was a harmonious symphony of spices, delivering a sensory journey that delighted our palates.
For our mains, we savored the Chicken Vindaloo and Chicken Korma, both masterfully prepared and utterly exquisite. The Vindaloo packed a punch with its robust flavors, while the Korma offered a rich, creamy indulgence that left us longing for more.
No Indian feast is complete without naan, and theirs was a revelationâa heavenly, garlic-infused delight that perfectly complemented the aromatic curries.
Amidst the culinary bliss, the only minor hiccup was the dim lighting, making the menu challenging to decipher. Yet, once our dishes arrived, words became irrelevant as our taste buds danced in ecstasy.
In essence, our experience transcended mere diningâit was a journey through flavors and memories, a testament to the artistry and passion behind each dish. This restaurant has firmly secured its place in our hearts as a haven of authentic Indian cuisine, where every bite tells a story and every meal is an unforgettable...
Read moreWe're new here. I'm from Seattle and my husband is from a small town in Mississippi, where we've been living together for 5 years. I missed all the good cultural food from my hometown, I was so excited to knock off real Indian food because my curry is delicious, but just not authentic and never will be. I was struggling with my toddler which definitely prolonged the ordering process but once we ordered drinks, we sat there parched for at least 30 minutes. Our samosas then took about the same amount of time to come out. And then we had to wait again for about the same amount time for two small bowls of vindaloo and curry with a mound of rice to come out. My curry tasted fine, and my husband seemed to enjoy his vindaloo. But we decided to stop eating when a cockroach crawled down the wall, 1 ft away from my baby. The next day (like, literally right now) my husband and I are currently trying to ease the worst gut rot, gas, and diarrhea. This is not due to my weak genetics and not being able to process Indian spices, which I've heard people say before. I've had Indian food all my life and never gotten a stabbing pain I'm my abdomen unless it was improperly prepared, improperly handled, cross contaminated, or expired.
I wanted to like this place so much and support a foreign local business, but I guess we'll keep hunting for our perfect Indian spot.
Sorry guys, we...
Read moreI've never ordered from the Bombay menu, but I've eaten at the buffet several dozen times in the years since the restaurant opened. It can be hard to counsel someone on Indian food because the taste is so unique. However, I can say that if you like the typical Indian buffet, you will probably like Bombay.
Indian buffets tend to be less spicy than menu food, so if you aren't big on having your mouth burn, you might still give Bombay a shot. The buffet is small, but the variety of options is excellent. There are usually two spinach-based dishes, two chicken-based, two miscellaneous dishes, and several side/appetizer options. The sag (spinach) items are always good and not too spicy for those who are looking for something mild. I usually go for one sag and one chicken, the best of which is chicken curry.
Two buffets, a water, and a soda runs around $24 plus tip, which is not bad for the quality. The service is polite and swift with drink refills.
The actual restaurant is nicely decorated with typical Indian things - elephants, cultural sites, cities. Some of the furniture is pretty old but everything is in good condition.
Overall, Bombay is probably my second favorite Indian restaurant in the Knoxville area and a great conclusion to a morning of shopping at...
