I have lived in Kyle over 20 years. I know local folks who are not happy seeing our fair city grow into a big town. When I say they were building a Smokey Mo's, I thought "Thank God it is not another Chicken, Mexican, Pizza or Chinese joint." As I was driving, I did see a young lady holding a sign for breakfast tacos. I was unaware they were open that early. I had been to Smokey Mo's in Austin on a few occasions. The staff were amazing. They were very friendly and polite. They all had big smiles on their faces. I was impressed they were open at 7am. If you try to get into the parking lot from the Kyle Parkway, it is super sketchy as you are driving highway speeds and then have to turn in. You have to use the shoulder to slow down and turn either over by the doughnut place, or go in using the street behind the strip center. I opted for some tacos. I did see you could get breakfast bowls as well. The tacos were reasonable priced at $2.54 a taco with two items. The bacon taco had thick cut slices of bacon, which as nice. Bacon at many other places is always thin cut. The eggs were not dry like I have had at other taco joints. I would have liked to have had a homemade tortilla, instead of ones you get from a bag from Ben E Keith or Sysco. I also would have liked to had homemade salsa. The salsa was flavorful. I have had worse salsa. I am glad to see Smokey Mo's join the many new businesses coming to Kyle. Even though they have only been open a short time, the employees were top notch. The service was amazing. The food is great. (It could use some tweaking; but, I am sure that is a corporate thing.) It is definately worth a stop.

TL;DR - A good spot for a quick fix of bbq that won’t bust your wallet. A friend and I went here for the first time ever to try out the buzz of Smokey Mo’s BBQ. I am from Texas, my friend is not, so we have different ideas of BBQ. My friend ordered the three meat plate ($20) and it came with two sides. He picked chicken, moist brisket, and regular sausage with Mac’n’cheese and buttered potatoes. Note: The menu does not specify they have both “regular” and “moist” brisket. They also did not ask. We purposely specified. I also ordered a three meat plate and got moist brisket, jalepeno sausage, and pork ribs with creamed corn and pinto beans. The meat: The moist brisket had marbling on it but it was still not a moist meat, barely seasoned, and it was just barely over room temp. The chicken was easily the best; it was cooked well, moist, seasoned well, and felt freshly cooked. The pork rib was decent, though also room temp and kind of skimpy. The sausage, also room temp, was okay and the jalepeno was hardly noticeable. The sides: Creamed corn was sad. It was 2/3 cream and 1/3 corn and lacked any real flavor other than corn. Pinto beans are not really pinto-y. They’re a cross between baked sweet beans and pinto beans - which I liked - but a distinct difference. Mac’n’cheese was tasty and the buttered potatoes just needed a bit of salt. The Dessert: I got the pecan pie and it was pretty sweet but very tasty. The friend got the chocolate cake and while a nice flavor, very dense cake (almost like a brownie). Spent about $65 (including tip). Would definitely go again.

Wow! Smokey Mo's is a great option for a catered event! When my daughter told us she was going to have her wedding in nearby Wimberly, TX, we thought that brisket would be a great idea for the wedding reception. Smokey Mo's really came through for us!! The price was excellent, especially for the quality of food and service they provided. If you are planning an event in the area, Smokey Mo's is very easy to work with. Sarah was very responsive to emails as we prepared and chose the meats and sides. They had two people at the event to serve who were very pleasant and helpful and they packed up the leftovers and cleaned up when they were done. The brisket, jalapeno sausage, and turkey were delicious and the sides matched perfectly. We got many compliments from our guests on the food! Thank you so much to the staff who together helped make our daughter's wedding memorable!

Place is clean and welcoming. Staff acknowledged us immediately. A young lady named Zoey was our cashier and able to answer every single question we asked in detail. (Rare nowadays). Her smile and laugh made it a great exchange. She even gave us taste of potato salad. Our order took just a few minutes and she brought it to our table herself. Food was hot, fresh and the pork rib meat just fell off the bone❣️ Loves the sausage too. Had both moist and lean brisket as well. Smokiness was yum. Creamed corn was a hit for me. Beans for hubby. Cole slaw creamy AND crispy. We saw two managers working kitchen and rhe floor. Very hands on and customer forward attitudes. Mel stopped to say hi and Marcos checked with me as I walked by counter where he was coming out to deliver another customer order. He did five while we were there. This was a very positive experience and enjoyed by both of us. Hubby LOVED the banana pudding! Even he commented on staff engagements and smiles. We give this Kyle Store 5 big...
