First of all, I am a big fan of Torchy's tacos. I was excited when they opened here in Kyle. This location has only been open for a short time. I had planned to give them a few weeks to sort out the bug since they were brand new. The first time I went, I opted to order on the app. I place the order and get to the location. The app asks if you if you are going to pick it up inside or in the drive through. I opt inside. It tells me my food is ready to go. I go in and it is a zoo in there. I wait at the little window for to go orders. No one knows what the heck is going on. After 5 different people ask about my order and disappear, 30 minutes after the fact my order shows up. They give me a handful of discount cards since they dropped the ball. Thinking this was just a one time deal, I order breakfast tacos this morning. I pull in and goto the pick up area inside the store. I get ignored. There are 2 different people with buzzers waiting. I finally ask the lady, "Um, my order is ready and I do not see it." She asks, "Did you check in with anyone?" I reply, "No. That is why you have the little windows so you can just grab your food," She rudely says, "You have to check in with someone in case you pick up in the drive through or not." I reply, "Excuse me? The App has an option for you to mention if you want to pick it up in the drive through or not. Why would I need to check in if the app tells me my order is ready and I paid for it online? Isn't that a tad bit backwards?" She glared at me like I was in the wrong. This lady had ZERO clue how the Torchy's app worked. If I needed to "check in" with someone, it should have been mentioned in the app, and it was not. I ordered online to avoid the long line that is always there at Torchy's. If I wanted rude and unprofessional service, there are plenty of other places I could have gone to.
The tacos were just "ok". The potatoes were not cooked at all the way and were semi "raw". I expected them to be crispy. The eggs were good and the tortilla was not over cooked. If I am going to pay for "over priced" "bouchée" tacos, I expect a tad bit better quality.
What is with them opening at 9am? Why do they not open at 8am like the rest of the Tochy's locations? If you go after 9am, that is a little late for breakfast. That is almost brunch time. Sorry Torchy's, I expected better of you. If you are going to charge me for overpriced tacos, I really expected more. If you are going to hire staff that ignores you and gives you unprofessional service, you are better off just closing this location. You have lost a fan. I will...
Read moreA colleague recommended Torchy's Tacos, and I am very glad he did. Everything was fantastic. The food, the atmosphere, the service, all top notch.
I walked in, a little confused, and Omar came up to me and asked if he could help. I told him it was my first time, and he pointed me to the bar and said Maddie would take care of me. He was very right. I got to the bar and Maddie gave me excellent recommendations. I probably wouldn't have tried their chips and queso had she not pointed it out as a house specialty, and it was definitely a queso to remember. I wish I had taken a photo of it, along with the taco I ordered (the Democrat), but they looked so good I had eaten them before I remembered to take one!
Lastly, their fried cookie dough balls (which I did take a picture of) were very good. Very rich, so if you get more than one, I recommend sharing! Additionally the churro was delicious, with a slightly chewy texture and rich on the side dipping caramel.
I was in the area for work so I was driving a company rental, and I make it a personal policy to not drink under those circumstances, but I asked Maddie if she could make me a non-alcoholic drink, and she gladly used her creativity to make something, and it turned out great!
Omar still checked up on me, and as I said, between the two of them, I couldn't have asked for better service.
10/10 would...
Read moreDO NOT GO TO TORCHY'S TACOS IN KYLE!!! We went to Torchy's in Kyle today hoping to get some of their great food. There is VERY limited parking at this location so we thought we would just go through the drive up, place our order, and enjoy. However, there is a sign above what we took to be the drive through and the sign says "order pick up only". That didn't make any sense so we drove up to the window and we were told that it was only for online order pick up. Problem # 1, there is VERY LIMITED parking so one would have to park a long way away and walk to the restaurant. Problem #2, it seems highly arrogant for Torchy's to assume that all their customers have a smart phone with an internet connection. We asked to speak to the manager and she said that all the other restaurants in that area operate the same way with no drive-up order capability. That is not true! This manager person became very argumentative and made no effort to apologize for the confusion about having a drive through lane but no ordering capability. It makes no sense to NOT have a drive up ordering capability given that there is EXTREMELY limited parking. WE WILL NOT EVER GO BACK TO TORCHY'S! The arrogant and argumentative attitude we experienced led to this decision. it's a shame, they have great food but so do a lot of other restaurants!...
