After reading several of the one-star reviews of Fuel Coffee Shop, I am convinced that many of the criticisms stem less from legitimate shortcomings and more from a lack of understanding of coffee culture. It is unfortunate when personal frustrations are projected onto a business that, in my experience, consistently excels.

For years I have been a regular patron, and I have never encountered the alleged “poor service” described in other reviews. On the contrary, the owner has greeted me warmly on each visit and even remembers me, a small but telling detail that reflects genuine attentiveness. Such positive interactions are not accidental; they result from reciprocal respect and kindness.

As for complaints about the quality of the coffee, they strike me as misguided. Fuel Coffee Shop serves exactly what it advertises: coffee and very good coffee at that. If one’s palate prefers the burnt, mass-produced brew of a gas station pot or the standardized offerings of a corporate chain, that is a matter of preference, not objective quality. Expecting every independent shop to mimic Starbucks both in taste and service model reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of what local coffeehouses represent.

Finally, I find the allegations of disrespect puzzling. In my observation, baristas do not engage in hostility without cause. It is worth considering whether the reviewers’ own behavior may have shaped the interactions they now characterize so harshly.

In sum, Fuel Coffee Shop deserves recognition for its consistent hospitality, authentic product, and role as a genuine local institution, not the dismissive critiques of those unwilling to meet it on...

This place is more than just a coffee shop—it’s a love story. What began with a couple’s shared passion has grown into a welcoming, cozy spot that feels like home the moment you walk in. Built inside a converted house, Fuel at Five Point invites you to slow down and enjoy something special.

The staff? Some of the kindest and most genuine people you’ll meet. Friendly, supportive, and always ready to walk you through their creative menu. The coffee? Exceptional. They roast their beans in-house with real care, and it shows in every sip. You can tell they love what they do, and they use their platform to support meaningful causes, too.

Now, let’s talk drinks. If you’re into something bold and new, try their White Espresso—yes, white. Think of it like Saudi or Yemeni coffee—lightly roasted, earthy, nutty—but served as an espresso. I had mine with white chocolate, and I honestly haven’t stopped thinking about it since. It was smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced.

They also play around with fun, seasonal treats. The crème brûlée was unreal. Sweet, silky, and with that perfect burnt-sugar finish.

If you’re anywhere near, stop by. Whether you’re a coffee purist or someone who enjoys playful flavor twists, there’s something here for you. You’re not just grabbing a cup—you’re supporting a place...

I drove past this business today, as I do every day, and did not stop. There are at least a half dozen other coffee shops within approximately one mile radius and those will get my business. I have never experienced such rudeness, incompetence, and aggressively entitled attitude as I did from the employees of this business. They failed to be able to answer the phone and take a SIMPLE phone order, they failed to address their own confusion and incompetence, and, in the end, they failed to actually make two drinks properly. They did argue, insult, and berate.. Let me be clear... this owner has decided to turn their business over to a little team of poorly trained and incompetent almost high school children with ZERO customer service skills - even down to being able to answer the phone, take an order, and make a cup of coffee. I had been here twice and enjoyed my coffee and the staff, but today was an unbelievable contrast to my previous visits. I won't be back, I won't recommend, and I will delight in telling my story of my horrible and borderline abusive experience in simply trying to get 2 cups of coffee from this horribly managed business. Answer your phone, take an order, make the coffee. Oh, be nice. It's really not typically that complicated. NONE of that happened with my...

It’s wonderful to find a good coffee shop in Lafayette. It’s a nice, eclectic environment with a fun list of drinks to try. The Dirty Ivan and the White ghoulia were the first we tried. The dirty Ivan was sweet, and definitely is a perfect mix of espresso, steamed milk, and sugar. The white ghoulia was a fantastic drink that felt like a white chocolate meets a recesses peanut butter cup. Or pancakes at a small town diner with butter and syrup. I suggest trying it and examining what each palette gets for the flavors

I’ve been going to Fuel for years and have always had exceptional service. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and clean. The staff has always been professional. There’s a consistency to the food and drinks which is important to me. The zucchini bread and the peppermint bark are a couple of my favorites. I love that Fuel is locally owned and operated. The owner Colleen is an extremely caring and hard working business owner who always takes the time to chat with me for a minute even when she’s busy. Love Fuel! ❤️
