O'Rear's Pastry Shop — Restaurant in Lafayette

I ordered a cake here in December, 2023 and my experience was wonderful.

This family owned pastry-shop was a wonderful find.

The lady taking my order was super sweet and patiently discussed different options for the cake. I had never ordered anything here before so I had no idea what to expect. The cake was perfect.

The cake, though delicious, was incredibly sweet. She had warned me about that so I anticipated it. She had suggested some other flavors/ types of cakes which aren't as sweet which I will definitely try next time. Cost for the cake was around $17 I ordered a week in advance and confirmed a slot to pick up the cake. I'd suggest to get a phone number and call in advance to double check that the item(s) is ready. They accept card payments. The shop is located near a gas station. There is parking available. They also sell wedding cakes (see images for details) They sell cookies, donuts and all kinds of pastries. O'Rears saved our daughter's wedding cake!

Her cake was make by a bakery in northern Indiana and, after picking it up on the wedding day, we noticed that it was not decorated to the specifications requested and was just plain white. The baker up north was unapologetic and unhelpful, so I called some local bakeries to see if they could help, including O'Rears. Not only did the cake decorator from O'Rears call me back saying she would absolutely help, she also said they would drive the cake back to the wedding location to save us time and stress....and then insisted that we not pay them anything for their work because they were just doing it to be helpful! The cake was beautiful and exactly as envisioned! So thankful for local businesses and good people...

My daughter is a student at Purdue. I wanted to send her chocolate covered strawberries for her birthday. Spoke to the owner Judy who said she'd make them and delivery them to her on her birthday and pick up some balloons on the way , not to mention it's a Sunday. She was the nicest woman ever! Love you Indiana folk! Not sure I'd get that same service in New Jersey!

Update: My Purdue student daughter said that she was so surprised with what Judy had delivered to her. Thank you so much Judy and O'Rear's Pastry shop for making my daughters first birthday away from home and her family extra special! So...
