Thai Brothers — Restaurant in Laguna Beach

Small, quaint Thai restaurant. Because the restaurant is small, they have limited seating. I was able to get a table quickly because it was after the dinner rush hour. Service was quick, and friendly. They have a good selection of traditional Thai dishes. Prices are high, probably because of location. I ordered Penang Curry with chicken. I requested additional vegetables, and was accommodated with a small up charge. The price for the dish was 20,00 and with the upcharge came to 23.00 It was served on a plate as opposed to a bowl, which I'm used to at most Thai restaurants. It was nicely presented, and came with jasmine rice, however, I could tell right away, it didn't have enough curry sauce for my liking. I ended up asking for more sauce because there just wasn't enough. It was also on the thin side. One way they can improve the dish is by serving it in a nice size bowl, and giving more sauce. I also think the the sauce could be a tad thicker. Making these adjustments would make the dish much better. Their sauce is very good, though the dish needs double or more of the curry sauce than it currently comes with. I also ordered desert, an inexpensive pudding. 3.00 and it was delicious. 🤍🌸 I have been eating here for 17 years and feel the service could be improved upon and the front entrance has no organization between walk-in customers, take out customers and door dashers. Tonight, there was a new server with messy gray hair who was so disheveled in the way she carried herself with her tables. She was unfriendly and brash, disorganized and probably affiliated with the new owners? I hope they take the necessary steps to create a more organized environment especially when the food is so good. Please hire personable and friendly servers! I liked my server tonight but kept overhearing the new lady messing up with all of her tables behind the window bar. We previously loved Thai Bros and the pineapple fried rice. It was unlike any other restaurant’s dish. We would go there 2-3 times a month at least, and sometimes even just order it to go because it was sooo good.

But when we went there today, the pineapple fried rice was …gross. They changed the recipe by adding curry and having the rice be more mushy—making their fried rice like any other restaurant’s. WHY?!? Doing so just killed a great thing! There’s no plan to return unless they go back to the old recipe.
