My experience at Daily Bar & Grill was a bit of a mixed bag. The food was decent, I would say it's on par with what you would expect from a bar and grill. Wings were the highlight and the outdoor patio is awesome. Nicely shaded by trees, plenty of space between diners, and staff did a great job with social distancing. The service itself was mediocre at best but I generally would never leave a review based on service alone. I spend years working in restaurants so I get it. Maybe your section is slammed, maybe you're kind of new, whatever. I'm not going to slam a restaurant because the service was less than stellar. However, it's worth mentioning that the restaurant adds an 18% "service charge" to all the checks. The waitress did mention this at the beginning and explained that this is to help pay the staff a couple extra bucks an hour and help offset the limited seating capacity, etc, etc... Ok, I understand, it's a bit of a struggle to try and keep your lights on right now but it was unclear if this is an added gratuity or we are still expected to tip on top. We followed up with the waitress the next time she visited the table and she informed us that it WAS NOT gratuity, it was an extra charge due to the previously mentioned reasons. This to me seemed a bit excessive, the restaurant expects me to pay an additional 40% on on top of the check (tip + service charge)??Upon further review I noticed others had complaints about this on Yelp to which the owner responded to those reviews saying that he was sorry that it was unclear and that it was in fact an added gratuity. This doesn't sit well with me at all, someone is full of it one way or another. Why not just simply say "We are adding an 18% gratuity to all checks" simple as that. I feel like I was totally ripped off by either the waitress or by a shady practice instituted by management. In any case, I doubt I will be back. I refuse to support businesses like this that takes advantage of people wanting to patron and support local business in the...
Read morePassive aggressive Management, yay! After moving from the patio into the dining room, our service dropped off a cliff. Although it is difficult when a client moves sections, this is anything but an excuse to stop serving a customer. After food came out we had to ask the busser for water as noone came to check and confirm our food was made correctly. Finally we were able to get another drink order in after hunting down a server. After eating and waiting for the check we once again had to track down a server, this time asking for the manager. When the manager arrived he made sure to apologize but not before informing us that we had only been inside for 25 minutes, implying pretty clearly that our frustration wasn't warranted. He seemed less than convinced after we all but had to prove to him that we had gone roughly 40 minutes without anyone checking up on us. If you like being put on trial by management, arguing about how long you've been without a server and being accused of exaggerating the poor quality of service you experience, please feel free to check this...
Read moreI was in town with a friend recently. We were walking around and came across Daily Bar. You must use the patio area to be seated. The hostess was not that welcoming. She simply said " pick a seat ". That should've be a sign to dash. However, I was optimistic. Once seated, we were causally greeted by a basic server. He barely wanted to be there. We were guided to scan the menu. Then it all made sense! An 18% gratuity was included. Basically there was no motivation or incentive to be kind and offer good service. We both ordered a cheese steak sub. He got tots and I got fries. The fries were basic AF and the sandwich was decent ( must of been my hunger). I polity requested BBQ from the food runner. He must of forgot or didn't care to return with it! My friend asked the hostess and she was back in seconds with it. SMH! Our server didn't check on us but was spotted checking on other tables. Hmmmmm ( no assumptions). Anyway, he gave us our check. No thanks, No greetings,...
