Came on a Friday night. The dumplings were so yummy. I really appreciated all the vegetarian options! My partner had the pork buns and he said they were just okay. The wait staff were really friendly and nice. Appreciated that they gave us an estimate for how long our order would take and passed out free samples as well.
I’m really rooting for this place (big dumpling fan) and wanted to give some constructive feedback to help them improve: It would be great for this place to become more of a dine-in restaurant with full service vs solely self-service. The self-service set-up is great for those ordering to-go, but it kinda diminished the vibe of the restaurant overall for dining in (e.g., having wait staff walk around calling out names, seeing the screens with order numbers, needing to bus your own tables/get your own water, etc). I’m not against more casual dining, but the prices and large restaurant space feel like it should offer a nicer experience. Perhaps a better balance can be struck. Overall, I would come back for take-out but likely not eat inside again unless changes were made. Upkeep of the place could also be improved. Many of the tables in the back were somewhat dirty, and the self-service water stands they offered ran out. Would be great if more drinks were available for ordering (like tea). Would also love to have reusable water cups and soy sauce dishes for dipping the dumplings instead of using a plate.
Overall I really enjoyed the food and will be back for takeout. I’m so happy to see a dumpling place in Lincoln Square. Also happy to see they’ve incorporated feedback from other reviewers and hope they continue to improve as they get more established. Still rating 5 stars to help in the...
Read moreStopped by for takeout on a Friday night. They were so friendly and offered two different kinds of dumplings for us to try, one before we ordered and one while we waited. You can also order ahead and pick up in the store, but there's plenty of seating and water provided for folks who are waiting for takeout. They also labeled the takeout containers, which is so nice - especially for dumplings, when you can't tell what's inside before you bite in!
All of their dumplings are delicious - we've tried the chicken and mushroom, pork and cabbage, and whole wheat dumplings, plus the red oil wontons. The whole wheat dumpling wrapper was so tender - I could taste the wheat flavor, which I enjoyed, but the texture was as soft as the regular dumplings, which I think must be difficult to do.
I'm eating the leftovers now, and they are possibly even better the next day. I only wish they had smaller portions available so we could have tried out even more options! One order of dumplings was more than enough for a light dinner for me - I might have been able to finish a whole order alone if I was very hungry. They had indoor tables, a bar, and a patio out back, so we'll have to come back sometime soon...
Read morePretty good! We went on a Sunday for dinner and sat on the back patio. The dumplings we got were both good (mushroom and glass noodles, and the shrimp trio), but could’ve used a little more punch, especially the vegetarian one. The shrimp trio seemed to imply shrimp dumplings three ways, but unfortunately they were all the same. The crispy pork bites were good, like fried chicken bites but better. Oddly they were served with ketchup and I feel like this was a missed opportunity for an interesting dipping sauce. The tea eggs were good, if subtle.
Service was ok, the woman who greeted us was very friendly, and samples were offered at the ordering kiosk.
I would definitely return to try more, but would add that the water is self serve from a dispenser and the cups available are laughably small, we had to get up and go all the way back up to the front a few times to refill.
I understand they are still in the soft opening stage so hopefully some of these kinks will get worked out as I’m so glad to have them in the neighborhood and would...
