The bartender technically cost my friend 21 days of sobriety by not letting her know you served her ginger beer WITH alcohol.
Word of advice, if you want to avoid any discomfort with the question "alcoholic or non," it is indeed typically expected when one asks for a drink that is commonly known as being non-alcoholic to, in fact, be brought the non-alcoholic version.
The calamari was much too tough. We wasted 45 minutes waiting for our pizza, and only after we asked for the check did you guys bring us the pizza. Deep dish was bland and flavorless with only like a few pepperonis. The cheese was the only enjoyable part. Felt like it was cooked from frozen where the brand expects you to include your own spices. Nobody gave us a heads up letting us know our pizza would take a while. Way too expensive for the quality of food you get.
This review would not have been written if other than the combination of two things: The food was way too expensive to be that bland and the lack of communication or consideration when it comes to delivering what comes generally expected when ordering a...
Read moreI love nancy's pizza. It's chicago deep dish at it's deep dishiest. (They call it a "stuffed" pizza, but don't confuse it with popular chain stuffed pizzas; at dominos I believe stuffed means theres cheese inside the crust. Nancy's isn't like that). The pie itself is several layers of sauce and cheese and whatever toppings you want, usually with more sauce on top. It's somewhere between 1 1/2 - 2 inches thick! It will put you into what my roommate and I would call an extremely pleasant "cheese coma" ;) It's heavy eating, so know what you're getting yourself into. It's totally worth it. The pizza takes about 40 minutes to make, but it's worth the wait!
The restaurant itself is never too busy, so you shouldn't have a problem getting a seat. They also have slices to go.
I no longer live in Chicago but whenever I visit I make sure to stop by Nancy's. If you like Chicago style pizza, you'll love Nancy's! (It's 10 times better than the tourist traps Giordano's and Lou Malnati's!...
Read moreVery disappointing. I took a break from my beloved Zazaâs Pizza on Clark to try Nancyâs. I chose Nancyâs based on articles stating they had one of the best pub style pizza in Chicago. Those claims make me question who the heck did the taste testing. Unfortunately this pizza was extremely disappointing. Yes, the crust was crack thin but completely bland with not even the slightest hint of salt. The tomato sauce tasted like ketchup, and the sausage had no flavor of pork, sage or fennel. The cheese lacked the gooey cheese pull. Clearly the cheapest ingredients were used.
I picked up my order, and the only employee I saw stood at the sink with his back turned to me for several minutes before acknowledging me. That gave me a chance to look around the dining room and kitchen prep area, both lacked the cleanliness I demanded to ensure my meal is safe and healthy to eat.
I wonât be back. Iâll neger stray from Zazaâs...
