THE FISH IS FROM A CAN!

We ordered the spicy roll combo, which came with 1 spicy tuna roll, 1 spicy crab roll, and 1 spicy salmon roll. What was served was three rolls of exactly the same color and consistency. Biting into a piece, it tasted like a tuna sandwich; tuna from a can.

We asked the server what was in it, and if there was fish in the rolls (it was hard to tell through the orange mush). She explained that there was fish, but said she would check with the kitchen.

Shortly after, the manager came to our table and explained that that was how spicy tuna, crab, and salmon rolls are served everywhere. I pointed out that I had never seen it served like this anywhere in the world, including Chicago.

I then asked her if the fish was from a can. She explained that the fish was ground and mixed with spicy mayo, but never denied it was from a can.

When she delivered our bill, she told us that she had removed the spicy roll combo from our bill, but add that "now you know how spicy rolls are served".

All the manager had to do was listen and apologize, but instead she insisted we were wrong. Terrible customer service. Trying to pawn off canned fish for fresh fish, and then charging $23 for it. Outrageous.

It should also be noted that this was at 6:30 pm on a Saturday, where the sushi restaurant down the street had a 45 minute wait. This place was empty, and apparently for...

I absolutely LOVE this place!! I've been a resident of the Lakeview East community for nearly 7 years, and they have been such a delightful addition to the community and dining scene. What keeps me going back is the staff ... the owners are a husband and wife team that truly exemplify the idea of rolling out the red carpet for their customers with the rest of their staff having a very similar, sweet demeanor. The food is absolutely incredible. Some of the best sushi and hibachi I've ever had, with extremely rich flavors, all served very fresh and is absolutely delicious. Each presentation of a sushi platter seems to be different and unique each time, which shows their creativity and skills in the kitchen. The restaurant is very clean and comfortable, with the opportunity for BYOB, which helps with an enjoyable and fun dining experience. I can't speak more highly of...

The dishes we tried here were pretty darn good! We decided to do a “taste of Chicago” and try small plates throughout town. We got the gyoza and a side of fried rice- firstly the gyoza’s were AMAZING. We did ask for them to be pan fried a little longer- but they had no problems doing that for us. The side of fried rice was so yummy we were sad we didn’t order more. We loved that they give you yum yum sauce on the side with the fried rice. My only complaint was that we wanted to get a side dish of their noodles, but the server kept telling us they were spaghetti noodles.. which seemed a little odd, so we decided against that dish. Usually noodle dishes at Asian restaurants are either egg noodles, soba noodles, something similar.. I was a little confused with that. But overall great food...

Just moved back to Lakeview after 5 years away (1/2 year spent living in Japan.) Was craving sushi tonight, so I ordered the "Sashimi Regular" chef's choice plate and a side of "tsukemono" (pickled veggies.) It was an absolute delight!! Below is a photo taken after trying 1 pc of each -- I mean look at those thick cuts of sashimi! The white fish melted in my mouth like butter. The salmon was fatty and so delicious. The tuna was equally tender and tasty. And the other two types of fish were both equally delightful. I forgot to take a picture of the rest, but the tsukemono (which is something I really miss from my time in Japan) was totally on-point!! This meal made me really happy!! Stoked to have this place in the neighborhood and to get to explore more of their menu in the future!!
