Taco Max Cantina — Restaurant in Lake View Township

I ordered from GrubHub and wasn't sure what to expect, there's no really good authentic taco places in the neighborhood but I wanted something quick. My delivery was very fast, I had it within 40 minutes of placing my order. The food was excellent and the portions were very good. The tacos were stuffed with meat, you could probably make two tacos from one. The cochinita pibil was really tasty and tender. The skirt steak tasted like it was cooked on a real grill so they either have a grill or a good marinade. The lechon was very tender and flavorful without being too salty like some roasted pork can be. Pickled jalapenos were good, still crunchy but also nice and sour. I do wish carrot and cauliflower was mixed with the jalapenos as the menu does mention that but all I got was jalapenos. Either way, still good. The grilled onions were cooked perfectly, soft and tender but still held together with a slight crunch. The beans were good but it was the rice that impressed me. So often I will substitute extra beans for rice because so many places have mushy Mexican rice, this was not mushy at all and the rice grains were even separate. I would definitely eat here again and hopefully next time will...

Tonight, my wife, our four-year-old, and I visited Taco Max Cantina for the first time, and we were absolutely blown away. They recently took over the space where our favorite steakhouse used to be, so we were curious—and hopeful—that it would be good. It turned out to be fantastic.

I had three tacos, and they were easily some of the best I’ve ever had. My wife ordered the burrito and couldn’t stop raving about it. Our four-year-old, who orders quesadillas everywhere we go, declared these were the best he’s ever had. We also shared two mojitos, which were delicious and super refreshing, and even the guacamole stood out—it had something special to it.

Everyone working there was incredibly kind and genuinely appreciative of our business, which added to the great vibe. Prices were very reasonable, especially for the quality of the food. We’ll definitely be back, and I highly recommend...

Taco Max was amazingly delicious!! It's really hard to find authentic Mexican food in the North Side but Taco Max definitely out did themselves with their authentic food and delicious drinks! I had 2 drinks a Margarita and Cantarito, both were delicious and one of the best cocktails I've had. We also had Cochinita Pibil Nachos which were also amazing! The meat was tender, delicious with such bold Latino flavors. The Tampiquena was also cooked to perfection. The rice and beans(yes even the rice and beans) were delicious! Just like my abuelita will make them. Even the music went with the vibe!
