The atmosphere, bartenders, drink menu and the other patrons is what got me hooked...a very nice beautifully decorated Lincoln Square neighborhood bar. I received the same quality mixed drinks from Manny, Miguel and Maritza. They all looked out for me, eye contact when they spoke to me and offered helpful suggestions. The atmosphere was relaxing with dim lighting and music at a good volume to talk and still hear what song is playing. Normally, as a woman, I wouldn't go to a bar alone. I felt completely safe and comfortable there. I would definitely encourage my female friends to go. Without hesitation, Maritza gladly held my drink behind the bar while I momentarily stepped away and quickly brought it back when I returned. BTW, Miguel is very entertaining and alot of fun. It meant alot to me since I was there alone and not many people were there yet to casually strike up a conversation with. They have a nice bar area in front with more seating right next to it. In the back was a cozy lounge area with sofas, a fireplace and small DJ booth that's used on the weekends. The drink menu serves up a selection of fresh, new and tasty cocktails for both men and women to enjoy. I visited several times just so I could sample a few. My favorite was the Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em. It came with a surprise Italian cherry on the bottom of the glass...delicious! The Cocorococonut and the Lavender Honeybee is definitely more female friendly cocktails and quite refreshing. I haven't had a chance to try everything yet but eventually I will. The Pralines N' Dreams was very similar to Smoke 'Em but not as good and a different 4th bartender made that particular drink, poured short and served it to me only ¾ full. It could be possible that it was made incorrectly. I was told about a knitting night on Tuesdays in the back lounge. I thought that might sound fun and something different to get involved in. The entire place was soooo clean, including the women's bathroom. Although, one of the toilet seats was broken and I slid all the way to one side but I consider that a quick fix. I loved every minute of my time there on both a Monday and Wednesday night. If I HAD to say anything negative it would be 2 things. 1. Kinda a big deal to me that they don't serve food. They do offer a boxed up cheese board. It's $14 and I have to admit, it's farm fresh DELICIOUS! There was mention of being able to order out but IMO, it's bad for business and not many people, like myself, enjoy others staring at me eating while everyone is just drinking. It was also mentioned that they do have occasional pop-up kitchens. I would actually enjoy that if I happen to catch that on the right night. The outside sign The Getaway can't be seen. I passed it several times looking for it. A nice back light behind the sign would definitely make the place more seen and make the name pop. My overall experience, quality time, money spent, engaged bartenders, service, phenomenal drinks and cleanliness...I give...
Read moreAmazing experience! This place has quickly become one of my favorite bars in the city. The drinks are absolutely top-notch — creative, balanced, and beautifully presented. The interior gives off total speakeasy vibes — dim lighting, cozy atmosphere, and a touch of vintage charm that makes you want to stay all night.
Huge shoutout to Jason & Miguel, the bartenders — they are phenomenal! Super knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do.
Overall, the ambiance, service, and drinks make this spot a must-visit. Whether you’re out for a date night or just catching up with friends, you’ll...
Read moreI love what they did to the interior. Very nice makeover. The service was terrible. No one greeted us, we sat at the bar for 10mins before even being acknowledged. The bar was not packed, it's wasn't empty, but certainly not busy to the point that 1 of 3 bartenders could not have greeted us. Once we did order our drinks, they were slow to get made. But when we got them, they were perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious.
Maybe the bar has some growing pains to work out. I hope for the best for them as they could be a great addition to the...
