This is a place you really want to love. The food is innovative and some is most delicious. It’s mom and pop, home cooked. There’s just one problem: the pop who serves all the food is constantly licking his fingers. He picks up the food without wearing gloves or using a tool. Picks up with those same hands. On several visits here over about a year he has done the same thing.
I have gently tried to express my concerns, like asking him to use a sheet to pick up the pastry with (he did). I would have thought that after more than a year in business he would understand the basic rules of hygiene and sanitation, but he doesn’t.
What is the motivation for being worried? What if you have hepatitis or some other disease that is communicated by saliva? You probably would not even know you had it for some long time, while you would be spreading it to all your customers! You should do what every other bakery and restaurant does: wear rubber gloves when touching food. Pick it up with a pastry paper sheet. Stop licking your fingers to open plastic bags. Use a wet sponge or something sticky or use other bags. Don’t wipe your nose with your hands either. You must have taken the Florida required course on food serving. Follow what the rules prescribe— and your business will...
Read moreThis is the best bakery I've ever been too, and will highly recommend that everyone visit. This bakery has changed my standards for bread, deserts and charcuterie. Azra has perfected her craft. She sources the best, purest ingredients, and doesn't cut corners. Even the red sprinkles used do not include food coloring. The German White bread will be a staple in my home, and has made it so I will never buy a regular supermarket loaf of bread for as long as Una Bakery exists (which I suspect will be a long time). The deserts are sensational, and an absolute experience. Forgive me for forgetting the names of everything I have tried but it is all amazing. The cherry based desert, blueberry cheesecake and tiramisu all come to mind. If you need a charcuterie board for a party or date night, look no further. Super fairly priced and very high quality. The meats, cheeses and spreads are all phenomenal. Again, crafted with the greatest attention to detail. I am very much looking forward to ordering cakes for parties and literally trying everything Una Bakery creates. The icing on the cake for this establishment is how nice Azra (the owner) is, she makes you feel like...
Read moreAt first walking in, I thought I walked into a wrong room. There was a set of pastries left on the side, open to the public to touch, that made me feel there was some sort of private event going on. The owner quickly grabbed our attentions and was super helpful in helping us pick our desserts! I was a bit taken aback to be rung up 3 desserts for $40, but I figured supporting a small business and the dedication/size that was taken into account was worth the expense. Unfortunately, I was terribly disappointed in the taste. The Dubai chocolate is a dessert I personally make, so my standards are a bit high. It wasn’t even close to what it should taste like. It also tasted pretty stale. The tiramisu had little flavoring in it. Overall, just felt like these desserts may have been sitting in a fridge for more than a couple of days. My dad really liked the chocolate cake they offered, so at least someone was satisfied! I might try this place out one more time, with prices being taken into...
