The prices and selections at the deli are pretty great. There is a large selection of polish sausages and cured meats. Their new location has a liquor license and they stock many polish beers, wines and liquors. I need to get an iron chalice to go with the mead I picked up.
They are still working out the kinks - their computer system at the deli was down and they ran tickets up SLOWLY at their new restaurant next door. When it came up, they did not allow the people who were first in line (and had waited 30 minutes) to go first. I am sure several people who were there to try the place out will not be back.
I tried their buffet next door ($11 per person) and the food was okay but not great. My family is Chinese so the homestyle cooking may appeal more to those who grew up with a more Euopean palate. Drinks are not included. Dessert was included for the grand opening and was well presented. It consisted of a pear simmered in red wine and served with a scoop of ice cream with a side of whip cream topped with shaved chocolate and a flaming sugar cube. Again, some minor issues with service cropped up. While my table received prompt service I noticed a table in the corner that needed their check and I had to flag down a waitress to let her know they needed it (I have many years of restaurant experience and could tell they were ready to go). The waitress was great at refilling our drinks but didn't ask if we needed anything else (napkins were in short supply).
Overall I would definitely visit the deli again. I was told the buffet has a static menu so I am not sure I will be going again. I would still say it was well worth the first trip to get a taste of...
Read moreCompletely agree with another’s comment that the employees have attitude if you don’t speak Polish. I’m not sure how they know I’m not Polish, but they do, before I even open my mouth. At least attempt to greet me in Polish and find out the old-fashioned way if I can respond in kind? Ethnic profiling or Eastern European radar, apparently ... Anyway, their fried sauerkraut is very good, and so is the broccoli and ham crepe with melted cheese on top. Delicious! There are wonderful shortbread-ish cookies with a crunchy sugar glaze. Sometimes they have a raspberry filling, serious yum! No clue if they make them in their kitchen (and I’m sure not gonna ask unless someone there can at least crack a smile and be happy I appreciate their cookies), but they’re really why I stop in. The store is clean, well organized, and rewards you with a discount off your total if you pay with cold hard cash. A few doors down, there’s a tiny Indian grocery store called Shree Sai with the friendliest owners, the cutest one year old son (helping out) and the best fresh samosas I’ve ever had. Ania’s gets 3 stars for its deli, but 1 for its service...
Read moreATTENTION!!!! I’m so disgusted with what I saw that I have to say something, I love this store, but before Christmas I went in to by my sausages , waiting like everyone, I was observing an older gray hair man entering the glass counter that the warm foods are at , this man had his whole head in the glass case filling his lunch plate with potatoes and licking his fingers while picking out the particular pieces of meat he wanted, I called him out on it , he pulled his head out saying he was sorry while licking his fingers, all the people saw this disgusting display of grossness, he had with no regard for cleanliness or hygiene, especially in today’s climate, this food section is totally contaminated, I could never eat there again, seeing that has totally turned me off to this once...
