Honestly, I couldn’t be more disappointed. I’ve been here once before to the same location. While the food was great, the service was seriously lacking (extended waits between courses, odd serving quirks etc) but given how wonderful the food was I was definitely willing to give it a pass. My godfather enjoyed the food enough to ask to go again, and I agreed. I regretted every second of it going back. Our server was clearly overworked and did not have the bandwidth to handle the amount of tables he was given. Our drinks took forever to come out, it took a long time to even get our orders in. I will say when I let the server know that I had somewhere to be he was very understanding and he did seem to speed things up. However, the overall food quality was not up to snuff. The steak has zero flavor even with a Parmesan crust added. The cook was inconsistent throughout the steak and I actually ended up getting sick after the fact. Then there was my godfather’s side dish. We were originally told the veggie of the day was green beans but when it came out, it was a weird mixed vegetable bag and it tasted awful. The waiter didn’t bother to tell him there was a change. What if he had a food allergy? All he got as a response when it was pointed out was “well I guess they switched it on me.” Then my mother’s potato was delayed due to it being “overcooked” and needed to be remade, but he brought the rest of her meal anyway. As someone who has been a server I completely understand that sometimes you’re at the mercy of the kitchen and whatever else is going on. Cardinal rule of serving: if there’s a mistake or something needs to be remade, don’t make promises you can’t deliver on. If you’ve overcooked a part of someone’s meal and it won’t be ready to put out, don’t deliver half their meal then say it’ll be out in “3 Minutes” because it is just going to create more frustration when fifteen minutes goes by and food still isn’t ready. ASK the customer what they would like to do. Always give someone the choice. We eventually became so frustrated that we asked to speak to Peter, and I genuinely was surprised with the amount of excuses he gave. I already felt guilty enough for complaining about the vegetable and my mom’s side so I kept my opinion of the steak quality to myself. It was still clearly a quality piece of meat, but the cook was just not great and the flavor was just not there. I wasn’t going to rock the boat any further. I wish I had said more at the time because they didnt really make much of an effort to make things right. Yes they comped their drinks and Peter offered a free desert as well. Our server clearly wanted us to leave given all the grief we had caused and didn’t bother to ask if we wanted that desert or not or if anyone needed anything. He just gave us the check and walked away. I had to remind him we had been offered the free desert and he just gave us something, he didn’t even bother to ask why she would have wanted. Again, what if she had allergies? Why would you not at least ask the person? Then when I went to the restroom after I finished my meal apparently he came back at least three separate time asking if we were done yet and why we hadn’t paid our bill yet. He was told multiple times that the person paying was in the restroom. Had I been at the table I likely would have lost my temper. We were more than reasonable throughout the experience despite how upset we were and now we were being pushed out. That’s absolutely ridiculous considering how much I still had to pay for a lackluster meal and terrible service. Absolutely not worth the...
Read moreI had recently visited for a delicious dinner about a month ago. Boy was I disappointed this time! This time I went for lunch and they advertise that they serve dinner all day while that’s apparently not necessarily true. None of their claim to fame BEELOW FARM STEAKS, PRIME RIB OR Even a specialty sauce that they normally have. If they do, they must have a different cook for dinner because unfortunately, the food that we had was very disappointing. I am unable to get out much and I had a wonderful steak when I went for dinner and wanted the same for myself and Something special for my friend that joined me. First, we ordered Spinach, artichoke dip, which basically was wet spinach, with some stocks from the stem of artichoke In it. Watery was the word. Sent it back and we think all they did was warm it back up and it was exactly the same. My friend ordered the scallop dinner and ended up with three scallops and three shrimps on a stick with Parmesan floating in a butter sauce with some kind of rice That contain tiny salad shrimp. Waiter really couldn’t explain what the dish contained when asked, but she wanted scallops so she took the chance of getting scallops. Bread was available if you asked for it We did and got 1 1/2 cut pretzel rolls or three pieces. It was like… couldn’t they spare it? Salads were not the best. I do remember when I went last time, I had a wonderful salad with great blue cheese dressing on it …this was nowhere near that. I ordered a ribeye steak and asparagus, and could not believe the salt level. Came served with onion straws that I am not exaggerating came straight from a refrigerator… that cold! ? Way way too much salt on everything, including apparently the scallops shrimp entrée.(I was embarrassed because my friend is a chef instructor by trade and I raved about the meal I had here before) Server was very polite and kind but very slow. I’m sorry I was so impressed the first time I went and to come back this time and find how totally different it was, there is no way I would make this 40 minute journey again. I guess I should have read more of the reviews here that says it’s inconsistent. Well, that’s Certainly...
Read moreTook the family out for a steak dinner on a weeknight. Very friendly environment, even for kids. They got pictures to draw, and a treasure hunt ending in a small toy at the end. Beelows uses real colored pencils, not the cheap crayons most other places use. That attention to detail really makes it a classy place. Our server was Sue, who gave us everything we needed right away. I got the "king of steaks", and the wife got the prime rib. Both steaks were spectacular. My New York Strip had an amazing crust, yet fall-apart tender on the inside. They cover it in a teriyaki glaze, clearly gourmet. The prime rib, which was in stock, was absolutely perfect. I suggest rare or medium rare. This is not Texas roadhouse. The chef clearly knows how to prepare and cook these steaks to perfection. Melt in your mouth, stick to your ribs, deliciousness. We even tried their sushi, which was on par with any good sushi bar in the Chicagoland area. Pleasantly surprised at their sushi. 1 child got the ribs, the other got Mac and cheese, and our picky eater ate the entire thing. Kids' meals come with an ice cream dessert, so nobody left hungry. All this food, service, and atmosphere and our bill was very reasonable. Each and every staff member was respectful, polite, and very accommodating, from greeting to goodbye. Even our cutlery was great, sharp knives accompanied our steaks, even though you could probably cut them with a fork. Overall 10/10 I will be back, I suggest calling in a reservation beforehand just to be sure you get a seat. I think we went on a Monday night, and it was quite busy. Remember, it's a steakhouse where they make your food fresh, so expect to wait a little longer than you would at outback. You can't rush perfection. Also, there are a few old John Deere tractors out front and some really neat older photos near the restrooms of the family and their farm. You can tell this place has heritage. Take my word, you won't be...
