88 Chinese Express — Restaurant in Lancaster

After waiting for 2 hours for ONLY half of my order to arrive, I called and was very kindly told initially that I did not order those items. Although then, they couldn't explain why I paid so much if that. I told him not to tell me what I ordered, I had done it online & was looking at it as we spoke - there was no miscommunication on the phone...after hearing that I actually had a hard copy of order as it had been placed, I was, oddly, just as jovially, told "No worries, we will get you next time." They literally thought that only delivering 2 of 4 combos was A-Ok because they were happy to send it with my next order 🤔 ummm...No, I paid for food and have a family to feed TONIGHT. I split mine between my kids as it was now about 830 & the 1st delivery had taken 2 hours. I would wait. Not my kids...

I go to divy up the food. I can tell you that it did not even look very appetizing. Yet regardless of the fact that I was still surprised that they thought sending most of my order at some unknown point in the future was acceptable at all (& based on taking down my 1st name to 'make a note of it ?? Yeah, that was likely to be an easy thing to collect on had feeding my family THAT night not actually been my goal when placing the order) Anyway, as I said, regardless of my disappoint thus far in their customer service, we were starving!! So as I am splitting it, I go to take a bite, as my roommate grabs an egg roll to do the same...I think our faces may have even turned green as we looked at each other, then spit it out... We tried a bit of some of the other items, looking for something edible. At 9:30pm, after throwing away the only parts of my order that had shown up so far, I still had to cook although I just spent $35 not to for that night.

They did eventually bring the missing items. They close at 11pm & the rest of my order arrived at 11:27pm. They actually made it, but they waited until they closed & had the delivery guy bring the now cold, and yes, also completely inedible...trust me, I tried, I was hoping that I could find anything to justify having spent the money.

Next order?? Not even if...

To me personally I think their Wonton Soup is the best around this area. Good sized dumplings stuffed with pork. A nice amount of scallions and a little more flavorful than the typical broth variety. They have a lunch special M - F usually just under $ 10.00 and there are about 20 selections to choose from and a small soup is included. As to be expected, the lunch special is just a smaller entree and pork fried rice is included but you can get white rice instead. Also the " spicy " items can be with more heat or toned down just a bit. Sodas are sold by the bottle from their self serve coolers. This restaurant is very popular and it does get busy during lunch and dinner times and especially on the weekends late night. I always go in and order knowing that it will take time. So if you are on limited time I would suggest looking up their menu and calling in your order. It's all made to order. This IS NOT fast food.! Expect 10 to 15 minutes for your order. Portions are plentiful. No MSG. Currently the restaurant is Take out / Carry out ONLY.. due to the mandatory seating capacity limits. It's a small, simple , family owned business with great food. That's why they are always busy. But , definitely Carry out at the moment... They take Cash and Major Credit Cards. They do not take Cash App and all of these new online cards. They are not set up for it and probably never will be. Simplicity is the key. But the food...

I would give this place zero stars if I could. I ordered from here for the first time today and I can confidently say that I will never do it again. An hour and 20 minutes after I placed my order online I called to see where it was. I was told they lost my order and would get working on it right away. 40 minutes later my food finally arrived, making it 2 hours after I ordered my food. You would think after a big mistake like that they would be courteous...NO. When the driver got to my job to deliver the food and couldn't find me in less than 5 minutes he tried to get in his car to leave. I had to flag him down for my food. He then proceeded to scold me for not answering my phone. I had given my work extension in the comments so that they would know not to call my cell phone as I am not allowed to have my phone at work. I never write reviews but this was some of the worst customer service I've ever...
