A trip to an ice cream shop is one of those touchtone moments that can transport me to the best of life’s moments. This cold sweet stuff is wrapped in layers of memories for most of us and now there is an opportunity to make new ones here in the City of Lancaster.

I highly recommend a visit to Mezcla Ice Cream at 318 South Duke Street. They specialize rich & creamy traditional Mexican ice cream, and 5 stars are not enough to give it. Samples are offered to taste the flavors, some of them unusual by local standards, but well worth a taster. The Corn ice cream was fantastic, but the Avocado was simply AHHmazing! I settled on a double scoop cone of chocolate and avocado and it was a splendid combination.

The owners, Heidi and Olé are another reason to stop by, kind, generous, welcoming hosts who genuinely want you to have a wonderful experience. They serve cones dishes and shakes of some lovely flavors in a way you are not getting somewhere else. Once In the door we were invited to sample from 7 unique flavors... one with cookie dough and one with cake. The Mamey flavor is in the berry family, is unique and refreshing, and we both made it disappear. My wife had a great caramel dolce de Leche and I had the vanilla with strawberry, cake, and chocolate hunk mixed in.
