This place is amazing-----truly a culinary and sensory adventure! My wife and I spent Labor Day weekend in Lancaster in celebration of her birthday and visited LSM as part of our "downtown tour". We heard a lot about it and decided to see what all the fuss was about. Well, it didn't disappoint!

We arrived around 7 p.m. and were immediately taken in by the chill atmosphere (there was a DJ in the house!) and the aroma of delicious food! Our first stop was X Marks The Spot, which had Southern food with a twist (the mac-n-cheese and collard greens were bangin'!); next was Layali El Sham, which offered Middle Eastern cuisine (the Tamarind Spritzer was amazing!); our last stop was 4 E’s Latin Cuisine, which had Latin fusion food offerings (the Maple BBQ Ribs were out of this world!)----there were other food vendors on site but unfortunately we were too stuffed to try them (maybe next time)! And a special shout-out goes to Ellie and Nelson who kept the place clean and tidy, going about their work in pleasant and professional manner!

We had such a great time we stopped back in later in the evening for a drink at the bar, which is the centerpiece of the market. While there, we were served by and chatted up with the wonderful and attentive staff including the operations manager (?), whose names I unfortunately cannot remember----but they definitely made an impression!

Speaking of which, we were compelled to return on our way out of town to gather up some of our new favorite food items to take home to enjoy later. If you're a foodie or just want to go somewhere that is a fun and festive place to eat, drink and be merry I highly recommend checking out the Lancaster Southern Market----you'll be so...

Overall, I had to rate 3 stars. Some of the individual stands deserve 5 stars. However, some deserve negative stars. To start, when my family visited, no one was at Cozy. When the person finally returned, he was super rude to my sister and told her the whole entire menu changed, and it was not his fault he just made the food. The service at 4 E's Latin Cuisine seems to be consistently rude. The man taking orders (the three times I've been now) is short with customers and seems to have no patience. It's almost like you're bothering him by being there. It's sad because their Cuban sandwich is probably one of the tastiest things at the market. Some big positives of the market are X Marks the Spot and Mekatos Eatery. X Marks the Spot WILL run out of food because it's just that good. Their Mac and cheese is literally like straight butter and will melt in your mouth. Best Mac I've ever had. Their chicken is also something that most try to make well but can't. So get it before they sell out. Mekatos eatery has some of the nicest service and BEST food. Personally, I recommend getting the chicken tacos from Mekatos. They are amazing! Ask for extra sauce because they can be a bit dry, but the sauce makes them amazing. I ordered food for my boyfriend for takeout, and they packaged everything separately and took the care to ensure it would be as good as getting it there. Overall, there is a lot of seating at the market. They keep it clean and nice. However, some of the stand holders need to take better care of their stands or simply let other...

I love coming to the Southern Market food court. I love the food here, especially the food from Lemongrass. I honestly even recommended it to my friends. However, I came today just to be served old cucumber kimchi that started to have the bad sour taste and it shouldn't be served to customers. Noted : they cucumber kimchi is usually good. It's a business and the food should be served from a business standpoint. I went and spoke to the OWNER herself. Instead of taking the criticism in a professional or constructive way, she took it in a very offensive and unpleasant way. Even, questioned me about my comment. And, I did tell her that I'm Korean and I knew if the kimchi was not consumable. Consuming bad kimchi could lead to stomach upset. Also, my statement does not mean she has to make it Korean kimchi standard. My point is, those cucumbers kimchi that she served me today was bad. She could make the issue easier if she offered me something else or SIMPLY apologized. It is disappointing that she DID NOT even compensate me anything, NOT EVEN apologize, but instead giving me a nasty attitude. It might still be good for her, but definitely not for sale. This is not a free food. I paid $15 for the food. I hope she can take these critics professionally instead of taking them personally. It is a shame the way she's handling the issue. I won't come to this vendor anymore especially after her unprofessional nasty attitude in...

First time at this market and I’ll for sure be back. There are many different food options that are not your typical American bites. I’m bummed I didn’t try small bites from each place but I’ll update as I go to new ones. We went to the Vietnamese shop because it was cold and all I really wanted was soup. We got the vegetable pho which was flavorful, not a lot of noodle, but had decent amount of toppings, although I wish I had a lime with it. We got the tofu banh mi which had a good amount of flavor. It could have used more of the pickled veg- they seemed a little stingy on that and the tofu was fried a little too long but the actual sauce they tossed the tofu in was delish. It had a little bit of heat to it so if you don’t like spicy maybe stay away. The shrimp summer rolls were fresh and the sauce they give with it was interesting but in a good way. It had notes of the traditional peanut sauce but seemed a little more soy sauce based and thinner than the traditional peanut sauce that comes with it. The vegetable spring rolls were strange. They were grainy and had a few pieces of carrots in it. I wouldn’t get it again. It was served with a sweet chili sauce. They are a bit on the pricier side but I’d at least reccomend trying the pho and summer rolls if I had to choose between everything ordered.

A nice addition to the Lancaster downtown. A twist to what we think of a conventional market there are food stalls with different offerings, a coffee bar, and a large central bar in the center. I've been here a few times and there is usually a decent sized crowd around dinner time but it's still pretty easy to find a table. The cocktail list is impressive but I wish there were a few more beer taps (I believe there are 6.). I wish they had better signage about cleaning up after yourself. There are at least 2 areas for patrons to throw away their trash and stack the dishes (similar to Panera or a mall food court). Unfortunately there are many people who just leave everything on the table! There are a few workers who sanitize the tables, refill the self serve water, and take care of the dish stations that are then forced to clean tables. Update: They have worked out the few kinks (minus the beer selection but the excellent cocktails make up for it). Almost all the food stands are filled and they've even added trivia and music trivia/karaoke! Great service and recommendations from the knowledge bartenders. It can get very busy at the bar so try to come early if you want to get a seat close to the action.
