Since my first visit 3 weeks ago I have returned at least twice a week. I always have ordered the same thing: Catfish & Shrimp combo, extra crispy with fries and coleslaw. They also give you a dinner roll. The seasoning they use on their fish and shrimp is quite unique and thick, very tasty and just the right amount of spiciness. (It is a recipe that they should keep locked away in a vault.) My last visit was 2 days ago but I'm seriously thinking about going again today for lunch to get the same thing. I am hooked on this place. It is by far the best fish place in the city of PalmCaster. It is superior even to the fish places that are no longer here. Probably the best we've EVER had. They give a large tub of coleslaw which would be enough for two and the tartar sauce is really good. They gave you some homemade tartar sauce instead of those little packets which I hate in a fish establishment.
There is enough food to where I have never finished all of it in one sitting. Usually I'll eat as much as I can and save the rest for later that day. I just pop the leftover fish and shrimp in my air fryer and it's good as new.
Perhaps I'll try other dishes in the future but right now I'm in love with their catfish and shrimp combo. It's not cheap but it's fresh seafood and it's well worth it. If you're on a budget the combo meal that I order could easily feed two.
They've gotten some bad reviews on customer service but perhaps that's why they have improved because I think their customer service is excellent. Every single time when they tell me the wait is 15 minutes it seems like the food is ready in exactly 15 minutes or less.
And they will call you as soon as it is ready and the last time they offered to bring it out to my car and asked me what type of car I was in. Although I was parked kind of in front of the place and could have easily gone to get it myself I appreciate the fact that they took that extra gesture.
I would highly encourage anyone who has had a bad experience or less than satisfactory service in the past give this place a chance again. It's worth it and I hope they remain in Lancaster as...
Read moreI was excited to find another black-owned business in town that I could patronize. Unfortunately, this like so many restaurants in the Antelope Valley left me immensely underwhelmed. While my experience was not as bad as some others I was disappointed. First, they are slow. Like another reviewer here, I was told my order would take 20 minutes. I actually took 45 minutes and I think I am being generous. The customer service was acceptable for me but I did witness a woman who was unhappy with the amount of time she spent and the portion size she received treated indifference. I also noted two patrons leave due to excessive wait times after they had already paid for their food! I ordered a half pound of fried catfish, one half pound of red snapper, a small order of fries, a small order of hush puppies, and a small order of red beans and rice. I'll give the good first. The catfish was quite tasty. It was moist, seasoned well and hot to the touch even after the 10 minute drive home. The fries were fine, nothing to rave about but they were crispy and hot. The hush puppies were delicious! They were moist, buttery, and mild flavored. If this is all you order and are prepared to wait much longer than necessary you will not be disappointed. Now the bad. The red snapper was anemic and dry. Stay away! The red beans and rice is another loser. Bland and uninspiring, it looks much like dog food and lacks even basic seasoning. I am certain they did not use ham hocks or turkey in their recipe. Other disappointing elements, were the lack of collard greens and the pricing. If you frequent the Louisiana Fried Chicken restaurant in East Lancaster I would compare the experience here to there. Where LFC has them beat is the amount of food for the price you pay and their red snapper though not amazing, is quite edible. I will try this place again because there are items on the menu that I did like but with my expectations now set, future disappointment will hopefully...
Read moreAnd I love a good fish restaurant. I wish I could rate the quality of the food, but unfortunately after 3 visits, I have yet to taste a single item from this restaurant. I saw an article about the young siblings who opened this new fish restaurant and I was excited to give them a try. Keep in mind, hours are posted as 11:00-9:00. 1st visit: Friday I showed up at 7:00. As soon as I walked in I was told they were no longer taking orders because they ran out of food. "But our grand opening is tomorrow" they told me. 2nd visit: I returned Saturday at 5:00 and was told they were no longer serving. They ran out of food again. Okay... I'm going to give you an opportunity to get it together. 3rd and final visit: I decided to give them another try yesterday for lunch. As soon as I walked up to the counter I was told they were not open. They open at 11:30. I said your signs say 11:00. The young ladies said we open at 11:30 today. As I was getting into my car I saw a young lady walking toward the entrance and asked if she worked at the restaurant. She said yes. I informed her that they had just struck out. This was my 3rd attempt at visiting this restaurant and that was it. She rolled her eyes proceeded toward the entrance. I have no opinion of the food here, but the customer service leaves much to be...
