Update* Posting as a Five Star so people will read this. I know they will know who we are as the story is so crazy. Do not go here! Triage unit was the worst they were dismissive to my wife who was tracking her contractions from 7am. We tracked and got consistent contraction rhythms around 4pm. We arrived at the pavilion at 6pm. My wife was admitted through reception and in triage at 6:13pm. My wife was left on a cot in the triage unit hooked up to the monitor. At this time a nurse visited her once to give her a Ringers Solution IV. This nurse was messy leaving discarded packaging on my wife as she left. She was disorganized forgetting where she put the IV needle. My wife labored in a cot as we could hear the nurse or receptionist at the triage desk talking about potentially sending her home as she wasnât âready yetâ. My wife then began crowing at 7:30 as I rushed out to find the attending nurse. She was nowhere to be found. When she arrived she dismissed my wifeâs cries that she was ready to push and deliver the baby. She checked my wife at which time my baby was clearly crowing. The nurse then placed her hand over my wifeâs crotch at which point we both protested her to not push my daughter back. At this point the labor and delivery nurses arrived thankfully taking over. Where was the doctor? There was a single doctor onsite who was preoccupied and no oncall. Thank goodness to the labor and delivery nurses as they rushed in to wheel my wife to labor and delivery. by this time it was to late and my wife delivered in the hallway with no doctor or midwife present. Once in labor and delivery room the nurses and midwife worked on my daughter and wife. Thank goodness I checked my watch when our baby was delivered or we would not have a time of birth. The doctor made his grand appearance an hour later once my wife was already treated by the midwife so Iâm sure Iâll see a bill for his do nothing consult. The problems did not stop there. The triage nurse took 3 vials of my wifeâs blood. She failed to properly label them and they were âlostâ. They then had to to take more blood which we learned 6 hours later when the lab tech came in that my wife was already deficient and close to hemorrhaging. Oh and donât post the we are sorry call us here to talk about it because I have been calling your number for 24 hours, left messages, and havenât spoken to anyone in âpatient experienceâ yet. Patient experience called me directly as when you call them they forward you to a message machine every time regardless of time. Guess what no follow up no update nothing they arenât...
Read moreJust left there, and Triage was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! Nightmare experience and wouldnât wish this experience on my worst enemy. Came in with contractions and baby jerking with movements that concerned me. I also fainted twice prior to coming in so a wheelchair was needed.
When I got to triage, they took the wheelchair away without providing me with assistance to my bed and in the middle of a contraction on my way to my bed the nurse (seeing me in distress) doesnât offer to help me to my bed but sits at her desk telling me I have to walk all the way back to where the grey container is because thatâs where the urine samples belong. I ignored her and proceeded to try to walk as safely as I could to my bed.
After getting in bed I told her my chief concern was the babyâs movements because he seemed in distress and she said that what I was describing is actually a good thing without even offering to do an ultrasound to ensure the baby was ok. Then eagerly tells me sheâs going to check me. Well she had NO CLUE what she was doing and caused more pain and discomfort attempting then reattempting a second time to preform a cervical check on me.
As if it couldnât get any worse, she nearly blew my vein and wanted to retry on the same arm (which have NEVER happened to me because I have excellent veins). She got what seemed to be a senior nurse to reinsert my IV needle after I requested the second attempt to be performed on my other arm. They both had ZERO bedside manners and treated me as if I was just an object and not a woman carrying a baby in pain, concerned and scared. Then the same inexperience nurse came in to tell me sheâs going to start me on fluids which helped but I never saw the doctor and I was taken off the monitors and discharged in the middle of a contraction sobbing in tears at the utter shock of the experience along with the pain of CONTINUED CONTRACTIONS mind you!
Needless to say all the comments are right, if you arenât crowning with the baby half way out, they will not care. I cannot speak for LABOR and DELIVERY but TRIAGE is absolutely hell in a hand basket!!!
The only person in that ENTIRE building that cared about my well-being and the wellbeing of my baby was the security guard who asked me if I was ok, grabbed a wheelchair to assist my husband and even went the extra mile to stand next to me as my husband got the car to reassure me that everything will be ok. God bless that man for having the care, compassion, and outstanding professionalism that the entire TRIAGE department lacks severely....
Read moreI had a scheduled induction two weeks ago. All the nurses were polite. The nurse I had when I was in active labor and delivery was the most amazing nurse ever. Her name was Jada D. She helped me so much through my labor more than she probably realize and she was helping me breath and stay calm during contractions when the anesthesiologist was putting my epidural in. She was patient and kind and went above and beyond as a nurse. She was absolutely amazing. I had many things on my birth plan I didnât give and didnât even have to ask for because she offered them.
When we moved to couplet care I like how they did all the procedures on the baby in the room. They never took the baby out of the room. Which Iâm glad because I didnât want the baby to leave my or my boyfriends side. They said they wonât take the baby out do the room unless it has to go to the nicu. I guess it could be a con to some if mama is tired and wanted the baby in the nursery they donât have one. I liked how my boyfriend got to have his own bed and didnât have a sleep on a chair like most hospitals. The food was not horrible.
Some things I did not like were it was pretty impossible to get any sleep theyâre in and out of your room once your babyâs born and they move you to couplet care. Literally had so many people come in within an hours time the next day. One time early morning I finally got the baby to sleep and someone came in to take the babyâs blood so I had to start all over again getting the baby back to sleep. đ©
I also had a nurse who made me feel guilty and I felt lectured because I gave my baby formula. đ
Also I was scheduled for an induction on April 19 and didnât get called to go in until April 22. I kept calling since the 19th and they said Iâm next on the list. It was scary and frustrating because I was getting induced for medical reasons for being high risk not just because. itâs safer and Iâm high risk due to my history, age, and other reasons. My last baby was stillborn so it was safer to get induced and have her than reduce the risk of having something go wrong. I started having panic attacks. I honestly probably shouldnât have gone past 37 weeks without getting induced. But I made it to 40+ weeks it was nerve wracking Iâm glad everything went well even though my induction was delayed.
Overall would give birth...
