South County Brewing: A Fantastic Addition to Lancaster City (with a Minor Caveat)
My recent visit to the newly opened South County Brewing in Lancaster City was overwhelmingly positive. This brewery is a truly welcomed addition to the local scene, offering a winning combination of excellent food, top-notch beer, and a genuinely enjoyable atmosphere.
The food was simply great. Each dish we ordered was flavorful and well-prepared, showcasing the quality of their "scratch kitchen." And let's talk about the beer – it's truly the best I've had in a while. Their selection is impressive, catering to various palates, and each brew I sampled was expertly crafted.
Beyond the exceptional offerings, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming vibe. The ambiance was also a highlight. The music was fantastic and set a great mood without being intrusive. In fact, the noise level was surprisingly low, making it a perfect place to actually have a conversation with those you're spending time with – a welcome change from many bustling establishments.
However, there was one inconvenience worth noting, particularly for those planning a visit. If you are seated in the back room, the beer selection is somewhat limited compared to the front bar. To access their full range of brews, guests in the back room need to open a separate tab at the front bar and retrieve their own drinks. While this wasn't a deal-breaker for the overall experience, it's something to be aware of. For my next reservation, I will definitely request seating outside of the back room to avoid this extra step and have seamless access to their entire beer menu.
Despite this minor procedural issue in the back room, South County Brewing is a fantastic addition to Lancaster City. The quality of the food and beer, combined with the friendly staff and inviting ambiance, makes it a place I highly recommend checking out. Just be mindful of your seating preference if having access to the full beer selection without extra steps is a priority. I'm already looking forward to my next visit (and ensuring I'm not in the...
Read moreSouth County has some Interesting happy hour specials. As well as unique drinks. I get tired of the same old- same old, so this is refreshing. Although, the crab dip was dangerously salty! I didn’t complain though. It was also out after our food.😒 my son really enjoyed his chicken, as did I. My salad was amazing! But I can find this salad a ton of other places. The bartender was less than attentive. She only checked on us once. The service was less than perfect but overall, I’m pretty happy. The place is a lil pricy but the outdoor waterfall is worth it to me this time, (only)!!
Wow! What a difference a week makes. I wasn’t going to ever come back but a friend encouraged me to try again. This time I had an outstanding experience!!! Emily was our sever, last evening. What the world of difference. This time our server Emily was attentive, professional and welcoming from the moment we sat down, she knew the beer list inside and out recommending beers that I would like, as well as brought out samples. It was busy and she still took the time to make our experience great!! I even noticed that the jalapeño margarita was made different. This time it had cilantro. It made a world of difference for the flavor! That alone is worth coming back for. My son and I will be returning… But I’m definitely...
Read moreSlightly disappointed. Started out by making a reservation for 8. Got there and told them we needed a high chair. We were informed they only serve parties of 8 at a high top table but only have regular height high chairs. That doesn’t work. Suggestion, look into high chairs that are high enough for the high top tables. Next thing was no children’s menus. Interesting to me since half the tables had children at them. That was able to be worked around with the pizza and side order of Mac & cheese. Just know, they don’t serve flights there. Another disappointment since many people like to try different beers when visiting breweries. They do serve 8 oz and 16 oz pours but the bartender “doesn’t always read the ticket correctly” so your order may not be correct. As for the food, my husband & I had the onion rings and shared the BBQ platter. The onion rings were just ok, and we felt they were greasy. The BBQ platter we thought the brisket was WAY too salty, the pork was dry but the sausage, coleslaw and beans were good. We’ll give them another chance but the high chair issue needs to...
