Cafe Rio Fresh Modern Mexican — Restaurant in Las Vegas

I have never been to a Cafe Rio before. Stopped here on a whim on the way home from the gym to grab quick take out dinner for the family. Got us all bowls with carne asada. Not only was I shocked at the seemingly low cost (compared to chipotle and other comparables) thr taste and quality was excellent!!! We will never eat chipotle or similar again. I have returned at least 5 times since the first try just a few weeks ago. The only thing I find disappointing but I semi understand because they make everything fresh, is they are almost always out of something. When it is a side, not so much of an issue...but they are often out of the meats and I try now to go at off hours on purpose to avoid it being busy but perhaps that is worse...trying to find the right timing to get something other than the shredded meats. Not that those are bad. The pork I had was excellent however my family does not prefer shredded meats in general. The service is also pretty excellent. There is a worker there that may be the manager because the other workers often ask her questions...she is has amazing customer service and is kind and seems to be enthusiastic about her job. She is helpful especially since I had never been there prior and also they were out of fajita mix but bc it was in the middle of being made, she ensured i got some just prior to leaving as a side. I'm upset I haven't decided to try this place earlier considering we've lived in area for almost 6 years. Will continue to be a regular customer. Excited to try their daily made desserts some time. Their tortillas are made fresh throughout the day along with what seems like everything else. Highly recommend skeptically only bc I selfishly don't want even more people crowding up...

This location is the location I always go to because of the customer service provided, employees are friendly and food quality is good. The past several times I came to this location it seems the customer service level is not the same. There are times that I would go in to order my normal Shredded chicken salad and the chicken seems to be less than before and more lettuce than everything. I walked in last night at 9:23pm I was not greeted and the cleaning process already started in the front line while walking up to order. Employee asked what can I get for you and I responded a chicken salad. She asked grilled or shredded I responded shredded. Then asked the cook is there more shredded chicken his response was “No”, when he could have said no we do not have but let me make more. Person helping said we can make the shredded chicken but it will take 10 mins as if it was a bother that I wanted shredded chicken and from a customer stand point that’s no how you provide quality customer service. So, I agreed to wait and asked if I could pay first while I waited. Sat down at the table to where I waited for 20 mins with no apology that it took longer than the 10mins. I feel the staff has no urgency that customers should feel valued and to provide great customer service. Instead all employees are focused on closing the restaurant. As a long time customer I don’t feel like I would go back again because of the poor customer service and the quality of the food is now poor. Few times I ordered there the chicken seems to be less and less and the preparation of the salads are messy and always spicy when I eat my salad. I'd say that this location is usually pretty good when it comes to service & atmosphere. I knocked off 1 star for service because it's not always consistent when it comes to portion size. Depending on who is making the order, my boyfriend's enchilada style burrito will either come out on the smaller or larger size. I wish it'd be consistent normal to larger in size, especially because they're not really very cheap.

I also knocked off a star for atmosphere because their ice machine is half broken and sometimes their sodas are flat. They'd get the full 5 stars if this was well maintained!

I knocked off 2 stars for the food because while I'd never encountered this problem before, and this is the first time it's happened, it's grave enough to render me being extremely wary of coming back. I always order the shredded beef burrito "enchilada style" for my boyfriend and he has always loved it. However, in yesterday's order, he told me there was an unexpected bone in his meat that injured and cut the top of his mouth and made it bleed for awhile! This is not okay whatsoever and makes us worry for it happening again. Even if it wasn't us, it could have happened to the person before or after us, and even worse, if it was a child! I'm very disappointed that the quality control was not there. I'm not sure how the beef is typically prepared, but this is something that needs to be addressed as it is a very important safety concern for customers.
