The customer service was awesome! The lady at the register greeted me as soon as I walked in & with a smile, she asked me What would I like to order? I told her I wanted to look at some pictures of their dishes on Google first before I decide. I asked if I could sit down and she said sure. I didn’t order right away I sat down at a table started working, next thing I know it was an hour later, I told the lady I apologize I’m going to order & she said no you’re fine, again with a smile, I sat & worked for about another 30 or 40 minutes & then I returned to the counter & placed my order, again with a smile she asked what would you like to order? Then she asked me if I was going to eat in or take it to go? Again with a smile, I told her I would take it to go. I ordered a Lamb Gyro and some pita chips with a spicy sauce. I can’t remember what it was called. After I placed my order I went back to sit down I thought it was gonna be a little while before it would be ready so I started working again, I’m not sure how long had passed, but it didn’t seem like I was sitting there long. She came and brought my food to me. Bagged up ready to go, again with a smile & told me to have a great day. BTW the food was delicious!!! Had the food not been pleasing to me, I still would have went back to that restaurant and tried something different until I found something that I like all because of the exceptional customer service. It is definitely hard to find that these days. 10 stars for the lady & the...
Read moreThe Big Greek Cafe is a cool spot in Laurel for Greek food. I stumbled upon the location because I mistook it for Yia Yia's further down the road thinking it was a new/updated version. I was later proved wrong lol when I drove further down Baltimore Ave. But I digress.
The gentleman who assisted me and took my order was very pleasant and if this review was only for him, BGC would be swimming in my praise. Banter was great and he was just all around friendly.
The food was tasty, but everyone who ate it got sick. Once is a coincidence, but four people is a pattern. I ordered 3 gyros and baklava (shared mine with another person which explains why 4 people ended up ill). We all had varying stomach responses from full on loose stool to stomach cramping.
I would be cautious about visiting and eating the food as there appears to be a hygiene problem in the kitchen or with the actual food.
6/26 Update: I emailed them on 6/12 per their request and have not received any sort of acknowledgement. I also completed their contact form on the website reporting that everyone who ate there got sick and still no...
Read moreAfter a recommendation to try the Wednesday $6 gyro special, everytime the food portion size and quality was great. In fact I would be full after eating just one and I am a big guy. Fast forward to today the size and quantity has been reduced by 50%, even my spouse noticed the difference and she could barely eat one. When are these businesses going to learn, you want to attract and keep customers, not push them away. There is no cost savings in doing this, it is short sighted. To think I drive multiple 24 mile round trips and left tips to patronize this business. The wise thing would have been to keep the size and portiions the same but raise the price $1, that would still make it worth while
What a horrible bait and switch...
