Pueblo Mexican Restaurant was previously known as Mezcal Mexican Restaurant in Lawrence, KS on Iowa St. It's now under new owners. The menu selection includes the usual combinations including tacos, Chile rellenos, burritos, quesadillas, etc. Also, they have a nice selection of seafood dishes, fajitas and caldos ( stews). And they serve Steak Mexicano, Steak Tampiqueño, and a nice T-bone steak with a Mexican accent. The service is extremely friendly, courteous, and efficient. The plates are served hot from the oven so be careful not to touch your plate too quickly lest you get burned finger tips. What I also like about Pueblo is that they serve authentic coca cola in the tall bottles. Mexican coca cola tastes better than American coca cola because real sugar is used to make it. It's not the healthiest drink but it sure tastes good with the Pueblo food. Tonight I enjoyed the two fish tacos combined with rice and refried beans. My wife enjoyed the caldo de pollo, or chicken stew. She also enjoyed a wine flavored sangria drink. I'm very happy knowing Pueblo is fully operational and doing good business as there is significant competition with several other local Mexican restaurants. I wish Pueblo Restaurant...
Read moreWhen I goto an authentic Mexican restaurant, I always eat the chips and salsa first before I order because that helps me determine if I am planning to order a meal. Its all about perfect preparation and taste. If a restaurant cannot do good with simple things as such then I cannot imagine what the other food May taste like. But on the bright side everything was good.I ordered the carnita special. Great dish for about 2 people just order extra beans, rice and tortillas. The pork was cooked just right! Not dry or tough. Their peach margaritas are delicious and must try their smothered burrito! I spent 16$ on my carnita special extra tortillas with a drink. Recommend this place. The seating is a bit tight! But it makes for perfect socializing...
Read moreGreat Mexican restaurant with food that is as close to truly Mexican as you can get in this area. The wait staff is friendly, fast, efficient, and attentive. The food was delicious. We have been there twice and had wonderful experiences both times. The guacamole was smooth and creamy. Chips were thick, crunchy, and went well with the guacamole and the salsa. The El Especial Puebla fajitas was more food than I could eat in three sittings (!) - just the right touch of spicy without being too hot, fresh meats and vegetables. They brought extra tortillas at no extra charge when I ran out of the first. Highly recommend giving this wonderful...
