Just stayed 4 nights here in a King Suite. My room was on the first floor overlooking the front parking lot. There was a lot of noise from the road and other guests parking PLUS I was in the back of the hotel right next to the exit door which loudly slammed closed all morning and night. I asked about being moved but there wasn't room due to a contract with a large construction crew. Thankfully the room thermostat had a fan always on option which helped drown out a bit of the car noise (but not the door).
The room was okay. The king suite is an odd layout with a bed on one side and the couch on the other with a swivel TV on a desk in the middle. So you can only watch TV from one side of the room. The wall was covered with curtains but it had only one small window. As a result the room was very dark. The desk chair was yellow fabric and absolutely disgusting with black stains all over the seat. It made me grateful the couch was grey but also scared for what stains the color was hiding. The fridge barely got cold and I couldn't find a way to adjust it. No extra toilet paper in the room. No luggage rack provided for suitcases. Nightlight in the bathroom didn't work. Internet was slow.
On the positive side, hot coffee and tea were available in the front 24 hours a day. The breakfast was well stocked with a variety of options including fresh oatmeal and fruit. I used the gym every day and all the machines and the room were well kept with water and towels provided. If going to KU the location is good.
I personally wouldn't stay here again and I wouldn't recommend it if you need to work remotely from the room. If you're stopping through for a night or maybe two I think it'd be okay. For the price there are nicer places within a...
Read moreThe only person working the front desk was incompetent, lazy, and could care less about customer service. He didn't look up, didn't say hello, didn't even acknowledge my presence for 15 minutes while staring at another family's confirmation email and trying to find their reservation unsuccessfully. The least someone can do when they know they're having a problem and they're the only staff available, is to say hello and I'll be with you as soon as I can. He literally said nothing in 15 minutes to me and the only thing he said to this poor other family is," let me see that confirmation email again"........three times. I finally interrupted this politely as possible to tell him that the digital key didn't work and I need a physical room key. You would think. I asked him to comp my entire stay as put out as he was to take 20 seconds and make me a key. 30 minutes later I went back to my car for something in that poor family was still sitting there in the lobby. Waiting for him to discover something new on his computer that would allow them to get a room for the night.
To top it off, the room was dirty to the point that the air blowing directly at my face in bed all night long landed me at an urgent care center 48 hours later with a raging sinus infection. The room was stagnant, smelly, and dirty.
I would avoid this hotel at all costs. There are definitely better options around there in probably people that work there that appreciate having a job where...
Read moreNot quite sure how this location is so highly rated. As a guy who travels 300+ days per year, it seems like a standard Hampton, albeit with premium pricing.
Sure it was clean. But thatâs about the extent of the positives. The downsides:
they have diamond parking but donât verify vehicles, so anyone can (and does) take the parking spots.
didnât recognize Diamond status at check-in. Had to ask for waters. Didnât offer snack. Seemed perturbed that we asked about it.
rooms are dated; bathroom fixtures were corroded and rusty. Ceiling had chips missing from excess condensation and poor paint-over repair
maintenance started banging on walls early in the morning. Asked about this and was told âthey might be doing some work this morning.â The noise continued until we checked out.
the beds are flat and hard; not enough padding. Headboard materials were frayed
chair had a large âcreamâ colored stain.
housekeeping knocked and tried to open the door early in the morning, despite our DND sign hanging on the handle.
We communicated these concerns but were given a âsorryâ so I canât wait for the automated reply that feigns interestâŚ
Itâs a typical Hampton. Itâs not the Taj Mahal that the reviews have made...
