Do NOT waste your money. I chose this hotel because it’s dog friendly and it was a cheap option. Big mistake. The man at the front desk was rude and the room was DISGUSTING.
I arrived an hour before the 3pm check in time. I had been driving for 15 hours and thought I’d ask to check in early. The man at the front desk very rudely told me I could not check in early because they were still cleaning the rooms (which is laughable after seeing the room). While noticing the sign next to him that said check in time was 3pm, I asked when the room would be ready and he grunted that he didn’t know. I then asked if I could use the restroom and he again, very rudely told me no.
When I came back an hour later he was extremely rude once again. He was completely unaware that I had requested a dog friendly room (even though it was noted when I made the reservation). He gave me the key to the room and I asked if it was in the front or rear of the building (so I’d know where to park). After he grunted at me (again) I looked at the building map and pointed to the room and asked again to which he said nothing.
I get to the room, try to open the door and it didn’t work. The light turned green but then the door wouldn’t open. I went back to the front desk to tell the man my key didn’t work, he then grabbed a key and walked me back to the room. He told me to try opening the door with my key. I put the key in, turn the doorknob and it didn’t work. He uses his key and then turns the doorknob upwards instead of down and it opened. He proceeded to do that 10-20 more times while basically laughing in my face.
Finally get inside the room. Disgusting. The seal around the door was messed up so light was shinning through, there was mold in the bathroom (so bad I couldn’t shower), stains everywhere, the carpet was wet (and was still wet hours later), infested with flies, scratches all over the walls, trash under the bed, the desk chair was destroyed, the metal shelf was rusted/broken and the ironing board was covered in stains. It looked like all they did was make the bed (hopefully the sheets were clean).
The exterior of the building was extremely run down and the few grassy areas on the property were littered with trash and broken glass.
I was somehow able to fall asleep, probably because I had been driving for so long. My fiancé on the other hand was unable to sleep at all. Around 1am I woke up due to the noise from the other guests. People were partying outside their rooms, girls were throwing up in the parking lot, it was a mess. We decided to pack up and leave. There was no one at the desk to checkout so I ended up having to leave a note with the room keys.
As if the entire experience wasn’t bad enough, I discovered an additional $50 charge on my credit card the next day. For what? I still don’t know. I wish I could give 0 stars.
I also discovered afterwards that this hotel is used to shelter homeless people in the city.
Do yourself a favor and don’t make the same mistake I made. Read the reviews and spend the extra money to stay anywhere else.
This hotel was supposed to be a halfway point stop between Texas and our home in Illinois. I have a major neurological condition in my spine which causes me all kinds of issues—difficulty controlling body functions, pain, dizziness, light and sound sensitivity, etc. I’m also wheelchair bound. I reserved an accessible room. We went to check in, and saw that there was only one disabled parking spot and one ramp. The parking spot was occupied by someone without the appropriate plate or placard. I inquired with the desk clerk about how this was policed, and thats when all hell broke loose. The clerk refused to acknowledge why this was so important to me, and proceeded to discuss everything at maximum volume. Somewhere during this mess, the owner of the vehicle in question came out and put up a placard (my son saw this). The clerk yells at us that we can park out back or on the side and that it is “open parking” (this comes in key later). I’m trying to find a resolution, but the clerk just won’t listen to my concerns. Finally, we have our room keys, but I state that I’m going to leave a negative review due to the poor customer service. All hell breaks loose again. The clerk tells us we can go elsewhere, and she’s not going to refund our money if we are going to leave a bad review. This leads to another back and forth for several minutes where I am highly aggravated. I’m being extorted at this point because I won’t get my money back due to the threat of a bad review. Finally, the clerk calls the police to have us removed. We agreed to leave before the police arrived, and attempted to confirm that she was going to withhold the refund. She refused to talk to us. We waited for the police in the parking lot. The officer was sympathetic. He did state, however, that the property would likely want us trespassed. So, just for standing up for accessibility rights, we get ejected and trespassed. We did finally get a refund, however. We e-mailed Wyndham Hotels, who apologized, but stated they were only there for the branding. The hotels are independently owned and operated. I received an e-mail from the owner/general manager who stated that we were rude and argumentative, and that the clerk tried to tell us about a second handicapped parking spot and ramp on the back side of the building (she never stated this was handicapped parking). The general manager was equally dismissive and dodged any accountability. ...
Read moreMy daughter and I came to the area for USATF Nationals July 25-28..I booked this room based on the pics and what was said per reviews..They had to have some one to write a positive review because this place was like the Bates motel..Because of the meet they increased the prices..I paid $156 per nite for garbage..and there were no rooms in a 45mile radius. There was a hole in the wall..the curtains wouldn't close so people could see in while we got dressed because the bathroom has no turn around space..the refrigerator was rusted..I sat in the chair and fell to the floor because the back was broken..the chest has three drawers the top drawer had no bottom in it..and finally the bed my daughter was to sleep in was leaning..It leaned because it was proped up on two wheels laid flat..I went to the general manager, Ken Patel to express my concerns..he said I could move the only room they had left in the hotel..that was going from bad to worse.. When I asked whom I needed to speak with about the accommodations he immediately tells me he wasn't giving me any money back. I informed him I didn't ask for that but I did want to know how they were going to address the matter..he said I could move to the room or check out..As I advised him there were no rooms and I wasn't going to mess up by daughters performance because of his ignorance..I call the corporate customer service and spoke with a rep who assured me they would be taking care of me and the matter..I ended up having to call them by the time we checked out because I had not received a call..I was told I had to wait til Aug 1st to allow the hotel to contact me..They never did..I call Aug 2..and was offered a one nite stay for free..why would I want to stay at a place like this again when NO one wants to take ownership of their mess..this was the worst place I have ever stayed in and I had to place my daughter in these conditions..Do ever stay here..and they need to learn customer service because we are the reason they are there..They need to be...
