Tad's Shaved Ice Inc — Restaurant in Lawrence

This place is trash.. Me and my niece went to treat ourselves to snowcones at Tads lastnight (7-16-2022) about 8:30pm after running errands man I really wish we didn't... my niece ordered a green flavor with sour spray when she tasted it she said it tastes like soap I thought she was just being picky so I took a bite and sure enough they sprayed cleaner on her snow cone!. Now I understand mistakes happen when I told the girl she didn't aknowlege it she acted dumbfounded like we were in the wrong then offered to remake it. She said "no sour spray this time" And my niece was happy... my mouth tasted like chemicals I couldn't even eat my snow cone so when we left she said the bottom of her cup still tasted like chemicals... so it seems like they just removed the top. The more I think about it the more upset I get. There was alot of kids there what if that happened to my younger nephew or someone's baby? Please watch your chemicals! This should never happen. I called to reach out to manager he said it wasn't true never happened and hung up on me. So be careful this business does not care about customers or their safety. Tad's is always a fun summer tradition in Lawrence, and on a warm evening you can't beat the shaved ice for a fantastic price. Small to Large sizing is only $3.50-$5.00, so very reasonable for an experience, but quite a bit more than, say, a milkshake.

Only problem with this establishment is the location. For years it's been right where it's at, but the NAPA store doesn't exactly provide the ambiance of some other family outings, let alone the fact that eating in a marginally busy parking lot isn't exactly the safest.

Local Tip Grab the Tad's to go and head up to the KU campus just a quick drive across the street. Beautiful views and dozens of safer parking lots. Only trick is getting there before...

As a connoisseur of shave ice I was so excited to try this place when I went with my niece for college orientation. The girl working there was one of the rudest people I've ever encountered, zero customer service. The shave ice was sub par at best and not worth the shoddy treatment we received from the employee! My sister is allergic to red dye and asked if they had anything red dye free and the employee said, "No." Not even trying to help her find anything.
