Read moreMayor Joy Petro posted about this place and I saw it and was super excited to give it a try. I agree with a previous poster that the concept was way more exciting than the experience. Here are my thoughts..
-Too expensive - cost $23 for 3 cones which only had about 1 cup of MEDIOCRE soft serve. Peanut butter ice cream tasted like vanilla. -No cash payment option - self serve kiosk with no employee to direct your questions to. A poor customer in front of me has ordered a fruit cup but didn't know that there was no ice cream. She was disappointed. Especially as a new concept place, an employee should be available to direct and answer questions. -Limited customization - you get a lot of choices but you can't choose to get a naked cone (the cinnamon on the cone was so overpowering and still lingering after 20 mins) By the time you get to your cone you don't have ice cream to eat with it because the ice cream they put in the bottom had melted so then your just eating a pastry. -MESSY - they serve the cone in a cup because there is a hole at the bottom. It melts and pools in the cup. When they put the toppings on they fall out of your ice cream and the drizzle just rolls off everywhere.
All in all, I wish you luck but it gets a 0/3 return rate...
Read moreI went to Crispy Cones on a Saturday in the early afternoon. The first thing I noticed is that the store was uncomfortably hot. I suspect it is due to the open cone ovens. The next thing I noticed is the pricing, just under $8 for a cone and ice cream. I opted to get my children and wife the cone, and I would get just a bowl for a $4. The staff were all teenagers but they were friendly enough and the place was clean. The service was great and the cones were served very quickly. The bowl that I received was indiscernible by my palate from that which I can get from Arctic Circle for $1.45. Because the store was so hot the ice cream melted very quickly. The cones are served in a small bowl, but the coneâs diameter is larger than the bowl so the melted ice cream just got all over the place. I did try my daughterâs cone it was fine, but if we use the $1.45 benchmark for the ice cream there is no universe that a little bit of rolled dough, cinnamon and Nutella is worth the remaining cost of the item. I really wanted to like this place, but I donât suppose I...
