This negative review could have been avoided, but sadly the night manager Phoebe was unwilling to right her wrong. I came earlier in the day to look at coats for my son. He was not sure he found what he wanted, so we kept looking. He decided after 4 stores that he wanted the one from Ross. Most Ross locations are showing open until 12am closing time. I arrived at 9:56pm and a woman was closing the door already. I said, "excuse me, please wait," she ignored me and shut the door. I checked the time and this location does close at 10pm. However, it was slightly earlier than that, but she was closing the door knowing I was about to come in. I was frustrated since I knew what I needed and where it was, so I waited for her to open the door to let others out. I said, "excuse me" again and explain she closed the doors early and I didn't find that fair. I let her know I needed 1 item and I knew where it was. She stated she has minor workers in the store and needs them to leave before 10pm and they are still working. I again let her know that was not right since the store is technically open until 10pm and she said she could not let me in. I let he know that I would be writing a review on the store and contacting the store about her, but she said, "go ahead" and closed the door again. I understand that I was close to closing, however I was before closing time. It's a matter of principle that I was at the door when she shut it on me and I was trying to communicate. The store should be left open until closing hours or closing hours don't mean anything. If there are minor workers that need to leave on time, then as a manager she should have let them go and checked customers out herself or not have minors...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRoss used to always be a excellent shopping experience, but over time it has gone downhill. Now Ross is either fantastic where you find everything you wanted or totally a waste of time where they have nothing you were looking for. On that note the store is a gamble of will it be clean & organized or clutter and upheaval throughout the store. It is sad to see Ross go downhill like this, they used to be at the top of their game. Now don't get me wrong Ross has fantastic deals and prices every day, but the catch is will they have what you need in stock. The employees at this store were smiling, happy & willing to help. But if corporate is not sending them merchandise it is all for not. I look at going to Ross now like a treasure hunt, you might get lucky and find amazing items or find absolutely nothing. I hope there is more continuity in what they carry instead of hit or miss. I do not know if we have seen the Best of Ross pass us by, but I truly hope it does get better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI like shopping at Ross every once in a while if I want a particular item for a good deal. I usually go to the one in Farmington but while running errands with my mom we visited the Layton location. We managed to pick up a cart full of stuff. From reading others' reviews they've improved on organization. My only complaint that unfortunately left me unsettled was during check out. Associate 914630 was not a very good customer service rep. I noticed how annoyed she was getting by all the items we had so I helped remove the hangers from the clothes. She then got upset when I asked if she removed an item we decided on not getting. Once all bagged up she didn't bother to hand the bags she placed all over her work station and had the audacity to make a comment about how if I were to break her receipt printer it'd be a lot of money. Oh but thank you for asking if my mom wanted the receipt in the bag...
