Five Guys — Restaurant in Layton

Background: I live overseas, in a country with no US chain restaurants whatsoever. When we came to visit family for the holidays, we knew we’d spend a significant amount of our budget on visiting our favorite restaurants. Since we’ve been back, I’ve been to this Five Guys three times. I don’t think any other restaurant has burgers as good as Five Guys. Most of the restaurants where I live, currently have burgers that taste more like meatloaf, with the various flavors inside their meat instead of pure, unadulterated, beef, and fat. There is one that has burgers that taste almost the same as our beef BUT don’t have the toppings that make them taste the way I like. When I go to get ground beef at the market where we live, it seems to have something more added (a different animal fat?) because we are left with a coating of fat on the roofs of our mouths. Needless to say, I have been excited to eat a good burger for a while now.

Experience: This last experience, I have to give a shout out to the employees. When I came, they greeted me as they always do, very quickly. I asked for my usual “hamburger all the way with no mayo”, and I could’ve sworn it was repeated to me. Maybe he forgot to press the button because he was trying to make sure I realized that a hamburger has two patties and not one (which any newbie to Five Guys would appreciate!) At any rate, I got my hamburger all the way but they included mayo. I really hate to bother people and don’t like to complain to people when a mistake occurs because I realize that mistakes occur and I don’t want people feeling bad. That being said, I had to come to the US for the expectation of my favorite food at my favorite restaurants and mayo on my burger is not something that I enjoy. I brought it to the attention of one of the workers who was working the line. He said he was sorry about that and that he would get that going right then and made sure he understood what I wanted. What makes me extremely appreciative to the workers there was that my order was put in front of other orders. I was coming right before I had an appointment so I appreciate the rush on my order so that I could eat before I had to leave. I just had an experience at a restaurant where we were there for 2 1/2 hours because they got one item wrong not once, but twice. (Plus, at that restaurant, It seemed like our corrective order was always put to the back of everybody else’s orders instead of putting a rush on it to correct it). Thank you Five Guys, I really miss the way that most American companies do business “The customer is always right”. Though it does seem, in this day and age, that that this is becoming less of a rule, and more the exception. Thanks for the amazing customer service correcting a mistake and for the amazing burgers I have flown 9000 miles to enjoy. Thanks to all the crew who worked 12/30/2024 at 11:20 am....

The burgers are delicious, double patties, all fresh, and super filling. My brother and I took our wives here on a double date, and while the food is top notch everything is a la cart and our total was more than we had anticipated. The quality of the product is on par with a gourmet burger and justified the price, but we were surprised that there were no combos on the menu. When I asked the cashier if they had combos she responded in an irritated tone that the did not. The fry portions are large, and my wife and I were glad we got one to share. Honestly, we probably could have gotten one burger to share as well and been fine.

The bottom line is that if you want a gourmet style and quality burger Five Guys will take care of you. Just be prepared for everything to be a la carte. The quality of product is on par with what you would expect from a restaurant, and prices are equivalent for the quality. Definitely more expensive than other "fast food" burger establishments. Took a star off for the sheer cost, without a tip or anything my wife and I spent about $15 each ($30 total) for two burgers, one fry (to share),...

🇺🇸 SUPER UPDATE FEB. 9, 2023! 🇺🇸

We went to 5 Guys to get our pickup order. We specially ordered a plain patty for Baby Dean for a treat. The employees here are always awesome, happy and go the extra mile. This visit was no different, all the employees know Baby Dean. When we got our order they had drawn this cute puppy picture on our bag. This is just excellent customer service and shows that they care. What a pleasant and happy surprise to see this.
