A neighbor of ours (who doesn’t really know us) did my husband and I a favor, so we decided to buy him a gift bag from Great Harvest to say “thank you.” We were kindly greeted when we entered and asked if we needed any help. When I inquired about gift baskets, they had tons to choose from! We ended up going with a simple loaf of honey wheat bread, raspberry jam, and a stack of snickerdoodle cookies. My husband and I saw a couple of treats that caught our eye, so we bought those too. The gift bag was well received and the neighbor said everything was delicious. My husband and I tried our treats and the raspberry one was to die for! The chocolate peanut butter coconut one (kahuna) was good too, but the raspberry has my heart (I think it’s called the mazerka). If we need another gift bag/basket in the future, we’ll keep Great Harvest in mind.

Got a blt on white. It was grilled and had a nice sauce. Tomato was fresh and plentiful. Also bought a loaf of cinnamon bread. It is always fresh. You can count on consistent quality with their bread. Very courteous and friendly staff. Please consider giving their sandwiches a try. The cost difference between a fast food meal and a meal at Great Harvest Bread is minimal and it’s a quaint place to relax with your friends, family or all alone. I don’t think I even have to rave about their bread, as it’s the best around. I always buy some white bread and a loaf of cinnamon bread. While you are there they’ll give you a complementary piece of bread with a big smear of butter on it. You can’t beat that! Gotta clean that floor. 05/22/2025 Update Still have wonderful sandwiches and bread, but the floor has still not been mopped!!

The bread makes the sandwich. Great Harvest has more then just bread, they have sweet treats and great sandwiches. The sandwich choices are limited. They also offer soft drinks. They also have limited hours. So check before arriving in the morning or evening

I have always supported locally owned small business owners, but I hate to give them a bad evolution here. My wife and I have bought bread, rolls, cookies, and some pastries off and on for a couple of years. In this time period their consistency and quality of their baked item has been truly horrible! In fact a couple of Thanksgivings ago we ordered dinner rolls which we picked up the day before our dinner. We had the family over for dinner and when we started to serve the rolls they were as hard as a rocks. We even tried to heat them in the oven without success. We bought several dozen. We called Kathy the owner and explained what had happened and she was so very rude. She questioned my wife like she was a criminal! Needless to say we were very taken back with regards to her concern about the quality of their products!!

I really do wished that was the only thing that occurred to us while shopping their bakery. On more then occasion we purchased their Honey Whole Wheat bread without fell it was very dry and stiff almost unbearable. Their chocolate chip cookies are always that way along with most of their pastries.

We also find the place not to be very clean. The floors always look like someone used a dirty mop. Just behind the front counter there is a bread rack they display their bread on. Take a close look at how dirty this rack is with old dried up pastry topping rubbed on it with dirt finger marks. We could mention a lot more, but I think I will leave it at that!

We love home baked items but we find that shopping there is way to much trouble. Yes, the husband and wife that are the owners aren't very cordial at all. In fact, they like to argue if you tell them that their bread was dry and stiff and hard to eat! They are absolutely outrageous angry people with poor business sense than to treat any of their customers in this manner!

No we are not happy with this bakery!! Believe us there are much better bakeries that offer home style bakery goods !! In the very beginning of the reviews it appears to me that the owner have stated that I am now happy with their bake goods!! I did not write...

The Saturday afternoon staff at the Layton store 11/08/2025 missed the mark. Pleasant enough but very subpar/lazy customer service. There was a small line, moving fairly slowly so an additional employee came down to check us out who were next in line. After paying, we were not offered a slice of bread (which is an appeal to this bakery amongst the many). We had to ask if we could have a slice to which was delegated without any verbal communication to the employee already cutting slices for the customers ahead of us. The staff member who helped us walked away to eat his own pastry in view of customers and proceeded to socialize/flirt with a third employee. The customers whom were behind us were helped and provided a slice of bread while we continued to patiently wait. All the while never getting acknowledged that our service would be concluded. So we left. No complaints of the food or the atmosphere itself. My hope would be that places such as Great Harvest that are nostalgic to many and have been around for as long as it has would genuinely listen to this feedback and improve upon what can easily be fixed. Until then, we will likely not return. I would rather go to a bakery like Old Grist Mill in Kaysville in which I have never had an experience such as this and of which the young people working there seem to want to do well at their jobs and value...

What started out as a terrible experience, completely turned around. I made an online order for a dozen cinnamon rolls for my daughter's birthday. When I arrived to pick them up, I got blank stares. The kids said they were just closers and didn't do any baking or know what to do. I asked if they could refund me so I could go figure something else out at that point (since my party was starting in 30 min) and I got more blank stares. After more excuses and deflection of responsibility, I finally had to tell them to take my info and have their manager call me. Thankfully, my order was refunded the next day, and when they opened first thing Monday morning, the owner personally called me to apologize. He explained he has an entirely new team but that was still no excuse to not be taken care of. He reassured me of his efforts to better train his new team. Then he said he made 12 cinnamon rolls for me and hand delivered them. Then he went above and beyond by adding a gift card to the package he delivered. I am so thoroughly impressed and grateful for this experience. I know Joe is doing a wonderful job with this store. I originally thought I'd never want to go back, but now I want to go back and support as much as I can....
