Bagel & Brew — Restaurant in Lenox

More brew less bagel? It’s a bit of a baffling place. Maybe I just had a bad experience. I went for bagels. The pictures of a bagel counter are very out of date. It looks and feels like a bar. You can’t see the bagels, and once ordered, they are just ok. The first thing I smelled when I entered was urine, I’m guessing because there is an outhouse by the door and picnic area. It was rough. The three stars is because my husband said his sandwich “wasn’t disappointing” but that is the best he could say. The tables and floor were dirty. I had a sesame bagel, toasted. It was fine, maybe on-par with a grocery store? My husband had a steak and egg sandwich and that was clearly better than mine based on his response.

Called to confirm the day before yesterday if they could accommodate a larger group at their outdoor beer garden on Friday from 3-8pm. Spoke to someone who said they could, but that they didn’t serve food past 2pm. The friendly gentleman said we were welcome to bring our own food and that they’re bar was open till 11pm. We showed up at 3pm the day of our planned event but the place was locked up still. Waited till ten of four with still no one in sight. Called and knocked on the door a couple of times with no answer. Confirmed that online they were listed as open. I always hesitate to criticize if I may not fully appreciate or be aware of hidden complexities but it confounds me to understand why this place closes its parking lot during times it is not open for business. It is certainly reasonable to assure the limited parking be available for a store's own customers, but why close the lot while Bagel & Brew is closed? 2 points: (1) if the issue is insurance or liability, I am confident a solution can be crafted; (2) retail enterprises in Lenox benefit from a vibrant community of other stores ... they all do better when they...
