The food was all pretty good. We tried arugula pizza, arugula salad, Rosemary fries, calamari, and chimichurri steak. We also tried kale salad and kale pizza because they got both those orders wrong. The kale salad was actually one of the tastiest things we had. Steak was least interesting to me. It was a little dry and chimichurri was not very punchy. Calamari sauce was addictive. Calamari was cooked ok, a tiny bit chewy but nicely breaded. Pizzas were both great. Crispy and slightly chewy/buttery crust. We ate all of that with 4 pretty hungry adults. All that was left was one slice of pizza.
I think it's pricey for what you're getting, but you're also 5 minutes from Tanglewood so I guess you're paying for location? But $22 for a pizza seemed high to me. They're definitely shareable if you're getting another plate with it. They're the size at which its too big to eat by yourself but you're going to be hungry if you're just splitting it with another person.
Service was just ok. Like I said, our waitress got 2 of the items wrong and there were an additional 2 times that they tried to deliver us something we didn't order. And the timing was definitely off. I know it's tapas style, and maybe the timing was due to the mix up of our orders. But we didn't get the fries until about 35 minutes after everything else had already been delivered to our table. The arugula pizza also came late into our meal but that's probably because they brought the wrong one first. The food that did come out initially came out quite fast though.
Nice location close to Tanglewood and its a cute street in Lenox. We walked in for a table of 4 without reservation on a Tuesday around 5:20pm with no wait. Nothing super fancy inside and very tastefully decorated. I'm not a fan of the aluminum chairs but it's not a sticking...
Read moreBrava offers slightly elevated bar food of inconsistent quality along with uneven service, but has a relaxed atmosphere and generally pleasant staff.
We enjoyed our meal, but it wasn't anything to write home about. There is little craft or creativity to any of the food -- in conception, execution, or presentation -- but it does come out promptly and hot from the kitchen. As an example of what we found to be common level of inconsistency, one of my lamb chops was cut very thin and consequently overcooked and tough, while the other was very thick and pleasantly medium-rare and tender. Even dishes that are generally hard to mess up, like our tomato soup and steamed mussels, were just surprisingly uninteresting in their flavors -- the seasoning wasn't quite right. The bar is also not fully stocked (you won't be able to order certain mixed drinks), and top-shelf bourbons are just run-of-the-mill. The service is pretty uneven, mainly because no one is paying attention to you as a guest (servers alternate fluidly), and as a result no one ever checked in on us and we had to wave someone down to order dessert after a really long wait when it wasn't busy at all. The dessert -- an espresso chocolate mousse -- was actually pretty good, as were the caffè americanos we ordered with it. In fact these were the highlights of our meal. And this mediocre experience of course commanded high Lenox prices...but that's to be expected.
All-in-all we don't have much of a reason to choose Brava again, and we wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they're looking for a late snack and everything else in Lenox is closed. Sadly, overall Brava sort of feels like a mid-level restaurant chain that has stopped paying attention to both its customers...
Read moreHorrible food, mediocre service. I ordered the lamb chops with mint sauce, the French fries (per servers suggestion) and the pizza with mozzarella and a light drizzle of pesto. My lamb chops were tasteless and chewy, two came on the bone and one with a small piece of bone sticking from it as if it broke off during preparation. These were served over a watery mint sauce with zero flavor profile. The fries were overdone however did have a good flavor profile with the parm cheese and herbs sprinkled over them, had they not been overcooked it would have been a tasty side- the fries were served with another watery sauce, had this sauce not been watered down I could see how it would be tasty also. As for the pizza, it also was over cooked, burnt and barely edible- I didn't want to loose a tooth eating it so I passed. I didn't say anything because I was enjoying the company of my son and I figure you live and learn. I was horribly disappointed and will simply never eat at Brava again or recommend it to anyone. If you do not know good food then this...
