Beer was good, and the atmosphere was really cool, but the service was kind of interesting, and not in a good way. My friends and I went in and ordered our beers and were told to go sit down and they would bring them to us. Normally you order a beer and they give you the beer, but not here. Kind of weird for a bar/brewery, but not too crazy yet. Once we sat down we waited for over five mintues and then asked for the beers. It seemed like they had forgotten them. For the second round we once again ordered at the bar and sat down. We then saw both employees lean against the counter while we were waiting for our beers (one was on his phone, and the other looked like he was messing with a portable credit card reader). One of the guys eventually came out and starting cleaning tables, so I asked him where our beers were (since it had been over 5 minutes and they weren't busy or doing anything else). The guy said they were busy with other customers and that they have a different "process" there and the beers would be out soon,. As he was explaining this you could see a switch flip on (I think he realized we had eyes and could see there were not other customers), and he said "You know what, why don't I grab your beers now". He came back with one beer for the three of us and walked away. The other guy eventually brought us the last two beers. Again good beer, super weird service. I know they just opened up, so they are sorting out the kinks, but it was quite a weird experience. It seemed like they were trying some unique system to maybe help when they get busy, but to be honest it was not very succesful when it was just us, so please just operate like a brewey normally does, or work on your communication. They have quite a few more beers that are coming out soon, and I really look forward to trying them, but really hope they work on service.
TLDR: Beer was good, but service was extremely lacking. Still very new, so hoping they will get better. I am excited for their upcoming beers, so will go back hoping the service has improved. Hoping to be able to add more stars to this review...
Read moreLongtab Brewing Company is a veteran-owned and operated brewery in San Antonio, Texas. The owners, both retired Green Berets, have created a warm and welcoming atmosphere where people can come together to enjoy great beer and food.
The beer selection at Longtab is top-notch. They offer a wide variety of styles, including Belgians, Germans, and American ales. My personal favorite is the V42, a deep red Trappist style ale. It's full-bodied and flavorful, with a hint of sweetness that balances out the bitterness.
In addition to the great beer, Longtab also has a delicious food menu. The kitchen uses locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible, and the dishes are inspired by a mix of Belgian, German, and local Texas fare. I highly recommend the pulled pork nachos, which are made with tender pork shoulder that's been smoked in-house.
The Green Beret theme is evident throughout the brewery. The walls are decorated with military memorabilia, and the staff are all veterans. It's clear that the owners are proud of their service, and they've created a space where other veterans can feel welcome.
If you're looking for a great place to enjoy a beer and some food with friends, I highly recommend Longtab Brewing Company. It's a warm and inviting spot with a great atmosphere and delicious food and beer.
Here are some additional things to know about Longtab Brewing Company:
They are pet-friendly, so bring your four-legged friends. They host a variety of events, including live music, trivia nights, and beer festivals. They are a proud supporter of local veterans' organizations.
If you're ever in San Antonio, be sure to stop by Longtab Brewing Company. You won't be disappointed.

Read moreI tried all three of the beers that were on tap and had an espresso. The espresso was too hot but still better than most places in san antonio so I'd order it again for sure. The beers were good but nothing really was a stand out at this point. However, they have some really cool sounding beers in the works and I am eager to come back and try them when they are ready. Being that they just opened I understand they are still working out their system, so I would like to offer some constructive criticism. This would have easily been a four star experience if they worked out the service counter a bit better. It seems the current system is you order at the counter and they will bring you the beer when they get around to it. Our first order we waited about 5 minutes and only received 2 of our 3 beers, after we realized they definitely had forgotten about it we had to ask for it. After ordering our second round we waited another 7-10 minutes, watching as the two gentleman on staff used their phones. When we asked for our beers one of them told us that they would get to it but they were busy helping other customers. Mind you I'm sitting next to them and can see that there were no customers being helped at that time or for a few minutes before I asked. I think he immediately realized the truth of it and apologized and got us our beers right then. Finally when we went to pay our tabs they put the beers on the wrong tickets. So all in all this place would easily get 4 stars if they worked out the kinks in their service. Its a great looking tap room and I'm hopeful this place is successful as San Antonio needs more...
