Paid my first visit here very recently. Put in an order for a 14" thin-crust plain cheese pie, and after a short wait, my pizza was good to go. The interior of Al's was neat and tidy with clean floors and clean tables and interesting photographs and other memorabilia on their walls. Tore into it straight away once I got home. Cracker thin crust and dough with a very nice audible crunch to the crust and a beautiful undercarriage. The cheese was well-seasoned, rich, dense, and wonderfully fragrant.
Edit: Had a bummer of an experience recently. Coworkers decided to have an end-of-the-week pizza party, so we called and ordered three 24" party pizzas for delivery. Driver showed up an hour later after calling the wrong phone number despite giving them the correct one to call. Asked if he had brought any paper plates or napkins and he said, "you guys didnt ask for any". Like, for real, man? We just ordered 3 party pizzas and spent $115 to feed 13 people and paper plates aren't already immediately supplied to go with the pizzas? Dude then said, "well, we threw in a coupon for the next time." We read the fine print on it and it says you have to collect TWENTY of those coupons to even redeem their offer! Anyway, picked up the food and realized the boxes weren't even warm anymore and once we got to the break room we confirmed that the pizzas were already room temperature and smushed together during transit. Not sure how long this dude had the pizzas in the car and how erratically he was driving and but they were definitely jostled around with pieces overlapping one another making several small mountains the way Earth's tectonic plates do when they collide, and on top of that they were also no longer warm. We all grabbed slices and we all noticed there was barely any sauce in any of the 3 pizzas we ordered (1 cheese, 1 sausage, & 1 pepperoni). It was super dry and practically flavorless because it was seriously lacking in one of the 3 most important components to a pizza - pizza sauce. It was such an incredible disappointment and a huge embarrassment on my part as I had hyped them all up for what I said was going to be an awesome pizza experience given my previous visits in the past. Such a bummer. Big waste of money. Never again with the 24" pizzas from here. I have brought shame and dishonor upon my dojo. Our disappointment was immeasurable, and our day was...
Read moreThe pizza is fantastic but as I went in to pickup the pizza it wasn't ready when I got there. They forgot to put the order in. I wasn't sure if it was because I had 20 coupons I earned for a one ingredient pizza or what for free. I complained because I didn't come until the 45 minutes they said it would be ready. I asked them if they could have someone deliver it to my apartment because I could not wait for it to just start cooking as I had the lyft driver waiting for me. The young girl that works the front desk told me they couldn't deliver because I asked them if I could pick it up. I told her I couldn't understand why they couldn't deliver 8 blocks. I asked if I could be compensated for something if I had to come back in 30 minutes? The young high school girl was very cocky and said to me that it's not my fault. And the way she said it made me lose my cool and swear that she should learn proper ettiquite on how to be a better customer service person. I asked to talk to the manager after I asked the lyft driver if he could stay a few minutes. Went back in and the girl I asked her name and she wouldn't give it to me and then said I am the manager on duty and no one else would be there. I then told her to give me my 20 coupons back that I would get the pizza another Time and then she had the nerve to tell me that I had nice teeth and laughed. How rude to make fun of an older gentleman who happens to wear a denture and they slipped because the glue was not enough as for me I walked out in embarrassment since their were other customers eating. I told her I would be calling management. I when I got home and told my Sister what transpired she was furious, being in customer service for 30 years as a flight attendant she talked to this young lady about customer service courtesy only to receive snotty remarks in a very obnoxious voice. My Sister told her she would be calling corporate only to get a response I would need to call the owner there is no corporate. And hung up on her when she mentioned her making fun of my...
Read moreI will never order from Al's Pizza again. Awful customer service. I ordered a pizza and garlic bread. The order came with the pizza with the wrong toppings and no garlic bread. Nothing in the order was right, it was 100% wrong. I did not want to wait another hour for a redelivery and called to ask for a refund. I was told they do not offer refunds and only remakes and redeliveries. When I stated that I did not want it delivered again due to the hour and child bedtimes I was hung up on by the manager. Refusing refund is one thing, being hung up on is another. The customer service was down right rude and it was 100% the mistake of the restaurant. I then called grubhub to file a complaint and ask for a refund. They refused refund to grubhub as well. Again, I will never order from Al's Pizza again and if you value custome service you should not order from Al's pizza either. There are dozens of other pizza places on the far North West side that will bend over backwards to keep you as a customer....
