Mr.Crabbyâs Cajun Seafood & Bar used to be our go to spot.
However, the service, extreme price increase of specials, and wait time was enough to make me not want to come back.
Our server "Vee" did not check on us once and ask how the food was. During our two hours there, she only came twice to refill waters without saying anything. At the end of the meal, the server asked if we could leave her a review so the server could pick her schedule. The restaurant was busy, but tables were visibly open, and it appeared one would have time to ask if we needed anything.
The special was increased by 20-30$ since the last time we went. I understand the cost of King Crab went up, however, from 89$ to roughly 109$ for a special is a dramatic cost of price increase. I respect their business and their competitors but its large enough of a difference to affect whether or not I want to come more often.
The dungeons crab tasted a little off. Was not enjoyable, which I would have been happy to reply with and not mention in this review if the server asked once during our meal "how is everything".
The calamari tasted like fried batter and not like squid at all. For $8, it is hard to complain. I would compare it to festival booth style of calamari, not a restaurant level.
All this, for two people, $160. Not overly expensive, but I did not wish to order King Crab for $80 a pound. I would recommend for that price making it yourself for way less if you have the time.
Credit to the business, it is understandable due to the cost of price increase, but not reasonable for the average customer since my experience at this establishment is 1 pound is a single leg of King Crab. If you have the money, I highly recommend the King Crab.
I would recommend coming back if the price is lowered. Vee was nice, just not attentive. I would have liked to tell her I was displeased with the crab. Or have been checked on a single time after ordering if we needed anything over the two hours other than a two visits where she refilled out water without comment or question.
The restroom had a broken sink handle, and trash on the floor with overflowing trash cans. Again, understandable since it was "busy" but not "busy" enough since multiple tables were open.
While walking around the bathroom and entrance, I almost slipped and fell when no "Wet Floor Sign" was present nearby.
Unfortunately, I had to drop my review from a 5 star to a 2 star. Dropped due to price increase, restaurant quality, quality of service, and the overall meal we had.
Nobody advised of our status as a...
Read moreIt was our (me and my mom) first time here. We came around 6pm on a Saturday, but did get sat very quickly which started the experience off on a good note Jalen was our server and greeted us pretty soon after we sat down. We explained this was our first time, so he explained the menu and took our drink orders (Diet Pepsi and tea) we settled on what to order and absorbed the atmosphere. I ordered the fried shrimp basket and hush puppies, while my mom got the shrimp and catfish, corn, and gumbo. The gumbo came out and my mom thoroughly enjoyed it, but did ask 2x for Tabasco sauce. The corn came out (garlic butter) and we each had a piece. The corn and gumbo were the superstars for the meal very tasty and well prepared. The baskets came out and we asked for drink refills. We waited a pretty good while for the refills and felt a little forgotten for a bit, but they were eventually brought. I was not a fan of the season-less saltless fries and asked the manager who stopped to check on us for salt (none on the tables?!?) I was brought a handful of single use salt packets and seasoned accordingly. The cocktail sauce was very very vinegary and was not enjoyable by any means. We finished up our meal and got the bill. My mom asked about military discount and was promptly given one. The bill was $59.89 she left a $10 tip which brought the total to $69.89 overall an ok experience right?
Nope
Today, Monday, my mom was checking her bank account and saw a charge for $119.75. She asked me and I assured her that no, we didn't spend that much, so she found the receipt and called up the restaurant.
She spoke with Alex, and after a minute of looking, he found the ticket in the system. Apparently, Jaylen had input the tip amount as $59.86. After some checking what could be done to fix this $50 overcharge, she was originally offered a gift card for the difference đ€ Mom said no, that's not gonna work since she's on a fixed income and that extra $50 overdrew her account. After confirming with a regional manager, Alex called back and offered a more acceptable way to fix this error.
In my many years as a server, if I had ever made a HUGE error like this, my managers would have offered more than just "fixing it" This mistake literally took money out of someone's pocket, and the "bare minimum resolution" is pretty offensive to me as a customer, career restaurant worker, and daughter.
Oh well, at least they're giving her the difference and we can move on to establishments that are more interested in making something right,...
Read moreMy family was in the mood for a seafood boil, and Mr.Crabby's was the closest one to us. With all the construction going on around it, made it alittle hard to find parking. Its located in the corner er of a plaza and parking was limited. We assumed it must be great because there were alot of ppl in the outside seating and there was a 45min wait for a table. We went back to our car and waited (too hot/humid outside) 20min later i was called that a table was available! If you are looking for a quiet place to go, this is NOT it! The decor was awesome, lights above looked like sea urchins, a nautical theme throughout the restaurant from fish, to giant crabs and boat turn wheels. There was a Live Band playing as well-- which was super loud (because our table was right beside it) this was our first time there so im not sure if that was a normal daily thing or periodic. I did love the live music, happy families, hearing a few birthday songs from the staff to ppl celebrating..but for my husband it was horrible. Since retiring out of military after 30 yrs, he had to get hearing aides and after 2 yrs of wearing them...is still getting the hang of being in very loud places like this. He was uncomfortable the entire time. Said the food better be outstanding to come back. We were there with our adult son, and they both LOVE A GOOD SPICY seafood boil. You order the spice you want and the level of spice. I ordered Cajun &mild. Son: Old Bays &Extra spicy, and husband: Cajun & extra spicy. For me it was good (I was really hungry) I thought with Cajun would've been more kick though. The sausage in the boil was the best part because it seemed to have its own extra spices inside. I asked them how theirs were, too spicy? They both laughed and said "absolutely not, they are still waiting for the kick" for them this was a 1 and done place. My son wouldn't mind coming again with his friends to maybe try something else spicy again because the atmosphere is really cool, but with the noise and prices for food with not enough spice my husband will pass. Note: a few months back we had a family trip with the rest of the clan to Corpus Christi and went to a local place with high ratings for their seafood boil...and it was outstanding. Still haven't found a place (inland) that has matched it--the rest of fam says the same. I still gave Mr.Crabbys high marks because staff was super nice, place was clean with alot of ppl looking happy with their meals and line was out the door. Thank you for a...
