We really wanted to like this place. My husband was excited to try this after church and so we went the same weekend he discovered it. We were seated as a family of 4. 2 adults and 2 toddlers. We were only given 2 pieces of silverware per adult - nothing for the kids. Hmm ok. We ordered Drinks and they came fairly quickly. With an additional coffee my husband did not order. Didn't want to complain so he chose to drink and pay for it. The coffee lady was so pleasant and helpful. Refilling our coffee and getting us a new coffee since my husband tainted his coffee with hazelnut lol. She was so nice and attentive; sucks she was the waitress who cleaned up the tables and not a waitress. She would really bring character to this place. We had 3 different waitresses because we had to flag someone down for more silverware and then another for extra napkins. Another waitress brought out our food which was wrong in different ways. I ordered egg whites for the additional charge of .95 cents. Came out with regular yellow. Hmm ok didn't want to complain and just sucked it up and ate them but brought it to another waitress attention due to our original waitress still being missing in action. She said she didn't know what was ordered but just went off what was on the ticket. My husband ordered the country fried with cheese grits. His grits came without cheese and we were still waiting on silverware. His country fried steak was hamburger meat coated breading. He was expecting cube steak not hamburger meat. We took a photo for others to see. Hmm I looked at my husband and said "I think this place is a no go babe." He nodded still waiting for his cheese for his grits and silverware. Then I realized I didn't get my biscuits and gravy. I hate complaining and already waved down a waitress 4 times. I waited for them to bring my husband's cheese out. Then I mentioned about the biscuits. And the lady said "oh she had white toast written down" I just gave a confused glare and then she said it's fine I'll get the for you looking frustrated. She came out them them and they were hard as a rock unfortunately. Couldn't cut through them. Also took a photo. The food overall was very greasy and extremely heavy. But that's just a personal perspective. It might but due to the kind of oil they cook with here. We are extremely disappointed and do not at all recommend this place. Very over priced for there quality of food. The rave might bring only due to the size of pancakes here. Nothing special about a big pancake. Oh as a side note they offer no special coffee for the coffee lovers and "cafe" kinda drawing you to Think they may offer different flavors of coffee. Nope. We walked out feeling extremely heavy and awful. Not due to the horrible service but the food. See photos

Let me start by saying this place will not disappoint you. The portions are big and you will leave fully satisfied. So i like to go here specifically for breakfast. I ordered the Country Fried Steak. It came with 2 eggs (i chose over medium), hash browns and biscuits & gravy. My mom chose the omelette and potatoes. My sister chose the classic breakfast with sunny side up eggs, bacon and hash browns. Breakfast here does take a bit, depending on the amount of seated patrons. We happened to pop in on a very busy morning. Our server was nice and checked in on us throughout our visit. There are numerous TVs throughout this restaurant, so you can enjoy sports or news while dining. They recently just switched up the decor which was 4th of July Themed to Halloween (keep in mind it’s October). The restaurant it’s dated but that doesn’t take away from the quality of the food. Hence the reason I gave “Atomsphere” a 4 instead of 5. The food is yummy homestyle food and sometimes you just crave that meal from mom. So if you are looking for a place like that, i highly recommend stopping by. The prices aren’t high either. We averaged $13 per breakfast. Give it a try, it’s worth it.

First time here, I have to reduce a star since I waited 5 min at the door to be given a table. Place was half full , I understand and consider this situation . 3 employees past by me without saying a word to be taken care of . Once I had a table the young lady just placed the menu on the table and walked away. Ok , no problem . I took another 4 min for the server to come by and take my order without saying a word. I take away another star since I asked for over easy on the eggs and they came out well done . The server came by one more time after 10 min of me finishing my food . The service was felt as abandoned and just another walk in . I do not believe I could come back . Price was better than all price in South California. $ 15 Question is , do I tip ?

I considered giving this place a 1-Star review but my complaint is not with the quality of the food nor the level service nor with cordiality of the servers. They were all tops. I was greeted warmly by my server immediately on entering the restaurant. I joked with her about finally finding the “World’s Largest Pancake”. She handed me a menu and she took my drink order for coffee and water. I looked over the menu, found what I wanted and ordered a few minutes later. The waitress arrived with my plate and set it on the table less than 10 minutes later. Then she scattered some ketchup and Tapatio packets in front of my plate and walked away. I looked at them for a second and thought, am I at McDonalds or Wendy’s? Shouldn’t there be bottles of ketchup on the table in SIT DOWN restaurant where the cost of my meal is going to approach if not exceed $20?

When the waitress returned I asked if it would be possible to get a bottle of ketchup. She said no, they didn’t have bottles, only packets. I continued to stare at the packets as she walked away. Then I noticed there were no salt or pepper shakers. I summoned her again asking for shakers and she repeated that they only had packets.

Now the breakfast was very good, mostly the way I like it. The eggs were over easy and the fried potatoes were good, but could have had a better crust. I ordered ham steak and it was humongous, almost as big as the “World’s Largest Pancake”. I also ordered sourdough toast because I’m in California, right? I also like that they had a good selection of jellies to spread on the toast, not just “mixed fruit”

I don’t blame the server. She came by my table to ask how everything was and I gave her my opinion and she said she would let the owner know. I said I would be happy to talk to her if she had a moment, but the waitress said the owner was not there.

So, not the worst experience in the world but it would have been nearly perfect if they hadn’t messed up on...

The Family Homestyle Cafe in Loma Linda is the quintessential Southern Californian pig-out spot. The establishment gives new meaning to 'serving with a heavy hand', offering mammoth portions that are guaranteed to satiate even the hungriest of diners. It's a destination that shines particularly bright during the early hours, with a diverse range of breakfast options that are promptly served, reflecting their commendable quick service.

The real star, though, is their pancake. It's a bona fide culinary spectacle - easily the most amazing pancake in all of California. Fluffy, light, and perfectly browned, it's a dish that commands your attention from the first bite till the last crumb.

Despite all the gastronomical excellence, there's a slight blemish in the form of its outdated and old atmosphere. The decor feels stuck in a time warp, and although the cleanliness is up to standard, the ambiance does leave a bit to be desired. Given the thriving business they are running, an upgrade to the facility could certainly elevate the dining experience.

Nevertheless, the culinary triumphs of Family Homestyle Cafe far outshine the minor drawback of the aging atmosphere. While the facility could use a face lift, the irresistible food acts as an excellent compensation, ensuring that your visit is well worth it. In conclusion, if you're in the mood for a taste of Southern California served in generous proportions, then Family Homestyle Cafe should be at the top...
