Let us take a moment to discuss Cappuccino. The proper balance of foam, to milk, to espresso is a delicate balance only slightly more important than the actual temperature of the drink itself. To hot and you have burnt the milk and usurped the flavor of the espresso. To cold, and, well who the heck wants to drink a to cold cappuccino.
The folks at Luna Cafe get this delicate balance. That is why the classic cappuccino is the house special of this establishment. It is a hard drink to get right and they have shouldered the responsibility of perfectly delivering on that dance time and time again.
It can be frustrating to put good effort into something that is overlooked by so many patrons. This is not your caffeine drug dealer cafe. This is a serious and professional barista cafe. If you are part of the mindless masses confusing over roasted coffee and burnt milk as a quality cappuccino then I would urge you to actually come here. Sit down, have that cappuccino in a mug instead of a paper cup, where the temperature can be maintained better and the chemistry of the barista's hard work can be finalized. You will be rewarded for your patience with a creamy, buttery coffee experience.
At times I can tell that the caffeine zombies have worn away at the patience of some of the baristas here. It takes a while for some of them to warm up to you. However, if you are patient and forgiving of the occasional curt reply you will be recognized and rewarded with kind banter and warm greetings later on down the road. Don't hold it against them folks, The Big Stupid reigns supreme these days and it can be taxing for anyone who cares about the little things, your barista is no exception.
The long and short; get the House Special, sit down, turn off your phone for a second and enjoy the quality coffee that was made by quality people. Look to the west and see that over the trees the peaks of distant mountains reach up to touch the face of God. There is beauty to behold here in Longmont, and the front porch of Luna Cafe is a pretty darn good place...
Read moreInteresting place. Just moved to town so I was excited to find a gluten free cafe nearby. I’ve been here 3 times now. Seems to have the worst service I’ve ever experienced. I came once and the service was so slow but everyone seem stressed out that day so I assumed there was a drama in the back that was bleeding over to the customers.
My drink was good my breakfast was great so I just assumed I should come back a different day.
I came back again with three people ahead of me in line. I waited 15 minutes for them to take my order. I could not figure out with three people working in the back how getting a pastry could take that long.
My third and final visit I realized there is one person taking orders as soon as you order they disappear for the duration of the prep time. Then they serve you one item and then disappear for the remainder of the rest of their activities before returning. Sometimes they will ring you out other times they just move onto the next person. There is also another counter that they serve. The one woman taking orders will just wander over there every once in a while and service the other counter. Seems cool but generally I would expect someone to look in the direction of a line and say “we will be right with you sorry for the wait “
Nobody seems to mind but me so I think that’s kind of cute. My last visit people were actually friendly in the back which was different than my first visit. Definitely not what I’m used to but the foods good if you’re willing to be ignored for a long period of time before finally getting some attention to order. I’ll be back for...
Read moreMy partner raved about this place, being a native Longmontian. However, our recent experience here was extremely disappointing, and neither of us will be returning. They apparently used to be very friendly and welcoming, but the woman who served us was downright rude. The setup is very strange, with a table blocking the room where the cash register and pastry display case are. The table was unmanned and had a menu and tablet on it, so we started entering our order into the tablet. It was facing us, and I've seen other restaurants do it that way, and no one was there, so we assumed that was how we were supposed to put in our order. Then a woman came over and grabbed the tablet and made us feel stupid for touching it... maybe don't leave it turned toward the customer then? Anyways, from there it was very curt comments about everything and making us feel very rushed even though there was no line behind us and hardly anyone there at all. I asked what flavor donuts they had and she said, "The ones you see behind me." Obviously I saw the donuts behind her, but they were a few feet away and piled on top of each other, so I just wanted to know what the flavors were! It was such a rude comment!! Then she tried to close our order and tell me the total before I was done ordering. It was just overall a horrible experience customer...
