Well, we've been here twice, and honestly, the first visit was amazing when we had the corned beef and cabbage for lunch. Great service, great food, great atmosphere. I would give it 5 stars for that day. Unfortunately, the last time here was extremely disappointing. We were looking forward to the meat loaf for lunch, arrived before the other two in our party, and ordered water. The waiter was nice and kept checking on us to see if our friends were still coming and if there was anything else he could get for us while we waited. After our friends arrived, we drank water and waited for our waiter to come take our food order. We waited, and waited, and finally we asked the bartending girl to send our waiter. She replied, flatly, "We are walking out". We pressed her to clarify, so she came over and explained that the wait staff was walking out, and proceeded to inform us of their grievances with owner/management, which I won't repeat here. Said she could take our order, give it to the kitchen, and maybe we'd get lunch. We left, passing a table of workmen who were clearly there on their lunch hour. I wonder if they ever got to order and get their lunch. Another table of three ladies left after just having their water, too. Here is our take: Whatever was going on that day, we should have never been abandoned at our table. The bartender should have never come over and aired her and the rest of the wait staff's grievances to us. Our waiter should have never left us just sitting there. I hope to never see either the waiter or bartender at any of the other Longmont restaurants we frequent because at that time I will walk over to the manager and express my concerns about their new employees. That was one of the rudest things I've seen anyone do to paying customers. At this time I'm not sure we'll go back to Mike O'Shays. I strongly suggest you hire young folks who truly want to work. In today's world, after the struggles this past year that restaurants and their employees have had, I'm stunned that this...
Read moreWe’ve been coming for the last 5 years. The last two times before this, food was good but service was starting to lack. Tonight was the last time we will go there. The hostess sat us and never brought the booster we asked for so we just stood around with the baby until someone brought one when we asked again. Our waitress could care less about us. She never came back to a family of 5 for drink refills, ( not to mention she never brought a drink for our 1.5 y old) forgot half of the specifics we asked for with our meal and never even talked with a smile. They say kids eat free after 3pm on Sundays. The menu says soft drinks are included. When we got the bill, they charged for two kids meals and $3 a piece for a root beer! She seemed inconvenienced we brought this up to her and stated since root beer comes in a bottle, it’s not included in the free soft drinks. We informed her she never told us this at the start nor is there anything on the menu specific to drinks in a bottle for kids. She refunded the two kids meals and only one drink. The food was good but the portions have gone way down and the kids applesauce came in the same size container you get your salad dressing in. We will be going to others in the area in the future.
So I emailed their restaurant per their request below on 11/26/2019 at 10:15pm. To date (12/31/2019 at 6:50pm) I have not heard one response from either Rueben or Ronnie. That speaks volumes to me and my family that they are more interested in making money and not worried about saving customers which generate return business and word of mouth. If you are going to reach out to try and fix the problem, don’t say it online to make yourselves look better and do nothing in return. R.I.P. another good place to eat that has gone to the dumps with new management. Real shame cause it used to be our favorite place. The good news is the Pump House down the street has been amazing to us and is our new favorite place! Go...
Read moreJust had an extremely disappointing experience. Went late on the afternoon of 2022-04-26. I followed two people through the door, and the staff recognized them and said, "your table is ready." Very friendly, I thought. I sat down at the bar. No one approached me. An individual came behind the bar and made what looked like a couple of interesting drinks, but she didn't say anything to me, didn't make eye contact, didn't have any interest in me as a customer at all. She finished making those drinks and departed from behind the bar. As an aside, about 5 minutes later I heard her talking to staff as she was leaving, so I guess I didn't rate because she was at the end of her shift.
A few minutes later, another individual arrived and finally noticed me. Took my order for food and drink. I ordered a wedge salad and the BLAT sandwich. The salad was fine, but the sandwich arrived too quickly -- bad pacing from the staff. However, I can deal with food arriving a bit too quickly, but the croissant for the sandwich was stale. Clearly it was bread that too old be served -- one could tell just from just touching it, so it is not possible the cook who assembled it wouldn't know.
I would have said something, but the person only came back behind the bar after I had finished the fries, and at that point I was not interested in trying to remedy the situation.
I have had decent service in the past (though, to be fair, the time prior to this a customer sat at the bar and threatened to kill people, so while not the fault of the restaurant, but does start to make one wonder), but this time neither the service nor the food was of a minimally acceptable quality.
I hope this experience as an aberration, but it certainly makes me less likely to choose Mike O'Shays over other establishments.
And it is too bad -- the peach margarita was...
