Excellent dining experience, will be back! Our waiter (owner/manager?) JC took total care of us, offering recommendations and colorful tips about the restaurant. Food was delicious (definitely get a tandoori!!) and even though it took awhile because it was prepared to order, I never felt like I was receiving anything but the best service and care. The chutneys are very good and homemade too! Oh and do NOT miss out on some yummy garlic cheese naan, it'll change your life.
Update: it is a bit of a different experience dining in when the owner/manager(?) JC is not taking care of you. After a few months of delicious delivery we decided to go back to dine in, as we often saw when ordering there was a BOGO special on the (delicious) Tandoori Chilean Seabass, and we would much prefer to eat fish fresh / not carryout. We inquire with our waitress and she tells us it's only available online. Ok, but we came in tonight specifically to enjoy this special, nowhere does it mention online only... could we do it this once, order online for pickup but have it served here at table? "No, sorry, doesn't work that way" JC would've done it!!
To be clear: the food is absolutely delicious, but you might have a better experience taking it togo/delivery in your...
Read moreWe are fans of Indian food and tried this one. From the start we knew this would be a good experience overall, when the waiter offered a taste of a dish we were thinking of trying. JC then gave some other suggestions and all were on the money. Right spice level, all tasted very nice. Chicken Tika Masala was seriously off the charts. We ordered an extra one to take home and it was excellent next day re-heated. Now, the selection of wines really took us by surprise. Seriously? I don't want to sound diminutive to some, but this place's selection - wow. And mark up on wines is much less than anywhere else. We had a great Sauvingnon Blanc from New Zealand and rocking blend from Napa. And again, JC suggested wines that went perfect with all of our dishes. Good food, great wines and good people delivering it - what else do you need. And when it does not break the bank at all - we are coming back very soon.
So we went back some time later and found the place absolutely excellent. The prices are still very reasonable and the food was excellent Wines were great and people very pleasant. Still a...
Read moreI have eaten at Akbar twice before years ago and was in the neighborhood so thought I’d stop in and get some takeout. It looked completely different must’ve been bought out by someone and remodeled. The person who took my order was arrogant and condescending. I got three different lunch specials and only received one small set of condiments. Lentils, chicken tikka and bengan bharta were meh. Aloo gobi too salty. Paid extra for garlic naan which was slathered with a grotesquely thick paste of old minced garlic — I mean it looked like someone had spread crunchy peanut butter all over the bread. Worse than that the garlic was old and had turned bitter and completely ruined the bread. It was inedible and I threw mine away. My son scraped all the garlic off and reheated it in the oven because it had become completely soggy and then wound up throwing his out also. We both heated up garlic naan from Trader Joe’s frozen section to eat with our food. Don’t waste your money and save your taste buds the disappointment. I certainly will never...
