One of my favorite finding in Melrose and have seen myself coming back multiple times despite plenty other options around the area. It's also uncountable how many times I've recommended it to others.
The location's strategic being at the heart of the city, though it may mean parking can sometimes be tricky. For those with lil' kids, they do provide a nice play room so you can enjoy a bit of chillin time over great cup of joe.
I do love the contemporary atmosphere it features with the artsy paintings and posters around the walls.
The baristas are all very helpful in assisting you to pick your order and even accommodate customization requests.
On my initial visit, I went for their signature Vivid Cream Latte, which was their version of brown sugar latte with cream top and cocoa powder. The drink that made me fell in love with this place on first try, served just at right sweetness with great brown sugar taste that nicely didn't overpower the bold coffee flavor. The cream top also came as perfect balance to the cup, which sometimes atypical one ended up diluting the coffee.
On my other visits when I wasn't really feeling like having cream top coffee, I would go for their hot brown sugar latte introduced by the barista as I wanted brown sugar in my coffee but not the cream. I ended up easily being...
Read moreIt's ridiculous how good this place is.
I've worked in half a dozen cafes and the usual strategy is mid-tier beans combined with catchy specials and some quirky or themed decor thrown in. The drinks are generally fine, with the weakest link being the espresso/cold brew (using perfectly decent but economical roasts), and the specials following the same derivative formula of espresso + sugar base + flavoring. This is your archetypal Los Angeles spot. Again, they're fine, and usually steps above the big chains.
Be Bright is just a world apart. The owner is a national barista champion and it shows, not just in the quality of the beans/roasts, but in the thought and deliberation of the drinks. Their single origin cold brew is magic. Their drip is delicious. Their matcha is super high quality. I rarely get sweetened drinks, but I've run through all of their Fall seasonal specials and they are fire.
I'm sure that in a city as large as Los Angeles, there are at least a few comparable cafes somewhere, but I can't think of one offhand. In my mind, there's literally no reason to go anywhere else if the criteria is bean and beverage quality. The staff also is super nice, and there are tables/wi-fi to work, as well.
Seriously. You...
Read moreI come here all the time to try the new seasonal drinks. This time I was very disappointed. I asked for the strawberry cheesecake drink and it tasted not very good especially for 7.5 dollars it's def not worth it. Usually they are very generous with their foam topping but for this drink I watched the gentleman pour barely any of it on top then sprinkled the topping. I thought the first sip will taste great especially with the foam but Maybe since there was barely anything it hit me with this bitter and gross taste. I've had plain lattes from this place without flavoring and I know the coffee is good but this drink is not it. After some agressive shaking I was able to mix it with the strawberry milk to the point where it is somewhat drinkable. I'll just stick to what I know from now on and not try new things here. It's just hard to be this disappointed when u pay basically 8 dollars for a...
