I love going to this place! The food is amazing and an amazing price for the quality of food. I've been here atleast 8 or 10 times now!
However, out of the many times I have been here, my most recent visit I found out that the soup that I was eating was a "pork broth." For religious reasons, I stay away from any pork type foods. You can imagine how surprised I was because it was never made aware to me, and to be honest, the menu didn't exactly do the best job saying ALL soups had a pork base... with the vegetable broth as an alternative upon request.
With that said, although I had apologies coming from the staff, I really think my meal should've been comped the day I was there. I did call asking for a manager the next day, and they were busy (no surprise), but I had told one of their employees that this type of thing is actually a bigger issue. They took accountability on behalf of the whole restaurant, which I appreciated, as the staff should've let me know from the very beginning. They did admit that they've been having issues with the menu and to expect a new menu in a month or so. If you guys look at the menu in the reviews, you can see that the "pork white bone soup" is at the very bottom of the "choose your soup" flavors. To me, it just seemed like another soup flavor since I'm not familiar with this cuisine. Kind of sucks I have to rely on the staff to tell the manager of this situation, but it is what it is.
Going forward I hope their new menu adds what type of base it is under every soup IN a different color, to show what's what so that way this type of issue can be avoided. I also hope that their staff will let each customer know what's in the soup. I do plan on going back here again and trying the vegetable broth as an alternative, but it just rubbed me the wrong way of how it was handled. I'm pretty bummed, and although I ate this "pork" base by accident, this could've been avoided. Hopefully this review is constructive and helps future customers who can't indulge in eating certain things.
My rating is a 3 star overall until I notice...
Read moreI’ve driven by this place a few times but hesitated to go in because it looks like it may be small from the outside however once inside the restaurant is open and spacious. They have eclectic furniture which I liked. Some of the chairs are more like couches. The restaurant is very clean and normally run by two men and a cute robot. The workers are kind and not overly chatty. The robot is really the star because it’s adorable and serves you your drinks and food with the help of the servers. My 7 year old daughter was tickled by that. She even asked if we could have her birthday dinner there lol. Initially, the prices seemed a bit high but honestly it came with a tea, for lunch, and my daughter and I ordered a large and split it. So it only came out to around $25 for two of us (though she is 7). We chose the bone broth which was very tasty. They have a sauce bar that allows you to doctor your soup how you like with garlic, scallions, chili oil etc. If you like a little spice I recommend the chili oil. I put a small spoon full and it made it even more flavorful. If I had to write one con it would be to add a for kids item to the menu (maybe plain noodles and soup in a bowl?) and maybe offer another option for a person in the party that’s dragged there but not a soup person, like my significant other. Other than that, I’d go back and I’m happy to have a hot pot option close by. It’s one of my favorite things to eat and is a healthier option. We’ll definitely return and recommend the place to our...
Read moreReally cool aesthetic going on. I could appreciate everything from the decorative pillows, the comfy seating, the skinny boba cups, the wooden hot pot burners. Loved it
The service was great. There was no line around 7:30 on a Saturday, but it was totally packed. The servers also just kept coming without being asked. I appreciated it a lot.
Food was ready and served to us in less than 10 minutes. I got the Spicy szechuan soup base. Absolutely delicious and flavorful. They're not stingey with the toppings or the meat.
Bathroom was clean and odorless.
Parking wasn't an issue. They're in a big plaza with ample parking.
For two people, we spent about $58 for a small and a large hotpots. We got a seafood combo hotpot and a pork belly hot pot. Both got ramen and sauce bar. I loved those chips. Also an additional $15 for two large boba smoothies.
Overall great experience. Had a good time. Food was really delicious. I originally wanted to go to an all you can eat hot pot place, but the portion here was more than enough. Next time I'm in Socal, I'd definitely come back. I'd recommend it.
On a side note, if I did have to be critical, I will say that the upcharging was somewhat off-putting. They charge extra for access to sauce bar at certain hours. They charge extra for asking for ramen instead of plain rice. They charge extra for adding boba. I can forgive it because it's a small business and they're overly transparent about it. I'd personally prefer it to just be factored in the price...
