Located on West 8th Street in Koreatown, Bonggu Tteokbokki is a delightful spot that offers a unique twist on traditional Korean street food. I ordered the Bonggu GaRae, which features four pieces of GaRae Tteok and three pieces of fish cake, all drenched in Bonggu’s Special Original Sauce. This dish was recommended by the server as the least spicy option, and I was grateful for the guidance. The tteok, or rice cakes, were delightfully soft and perfectly chewy, absorbing the sauce's spicy sweet flavor beautifully. The sauce itself was a standout rich, flavorful, and just the right amount of heat to keep things interesting without overwhelming my palate. I also opted to add wide glass noodles, which complemented the dish well, adding a nice texture and heartiness. From the tempura menu, I couldn't resist ordering the Tempura Shrimp, which came with two perfectly fried pieces. The shrimp were crispy on the outside while remaining tender and juicy inside, making for a delicious contrast with the tteokbokki. To wash everything down, I ordered the homemade strawberry milk. It was reminiscent of a thick strawberry milkshake, rich and creamy, which was a perfect counterbalance to the spice of the meal. It added a refreshing sweetness that rounded out the experience. One of the highlights of my visit was the service. The server was incredibly attentive and helpful, ensuring that I had everything we needed throughout the meal. She was knowledgeable about the menu, providing excellent recommendations that enhanced my dining experience....
Read moreMy favorite new tteokbokki in Ktown. 💣💣💣 Bonggu’s tteokbokki is delicious chewy and fresh. I really enjoyed the flavor of the Bong Gu Rose Noodle. The crispy and chewy texture of the GaRae Tteok Bum Buck was complemented with Bonggu's Special Sauce. The Tempura Long Seaweed Roll was also very crispy and tasty; I ended up finishing it by dipping it in my rose tteokbokki sauce. I enjoyed my meal so much I ordered a Togo for one of my friends and dropped it off for her lunch break. She really enjoyed their kimbop as well as the tteokbokki.
The staff was all super friendly and helpful in explaining the differences in the menu. The interior was relaxed, casual and retro feeling. Parking is easy at this complex.

Read moreCame here on Saturday with my significant other, we had placed an order on their website and drove to their location. Upon arriving we discovered that our order had not been received (error with their system) we discussed with the manager and was able to work things out. As an apology for the mix up he gave us Korean strawberry milk on the house which was so good! We promptly got our food and upon arriving home everything tasted perfect. My all time favorite was their mixed Bum Buck (모듬봄벅) especially their blood sausage(순대) that had glass noodle inside and paired perfectly with their sweet ad tangy sauce! Their fried tofu roll (유부롤) was flavorful, their fried tofu kimbap (유부꼬마김밥) had a nice snap and tasted fresh, lastly their udon (우동) and tteokbokki (똑볶이) was nice and bouncy and tasted better with their respective sauce! I definitely recommend this spot and will be looking forward to...
