A cute little bar with nods to Harry Potter in the decor & drinks, Potions & Poisons Exceeds Expectations, but with a little more work on it's O.W.L.'s could get Outstanding.
The main room is cozy, fitting five 4-person high-top tables comfortably distanced, and a standard sized bar. Candles float above your heads, and various magical art pieces sparsely decorate the walls. There were a couple walled-off private rooms in the back which I assumed were for karaoke or private events, but there was no signage or indication of how to reserve/rent the rooms or their capabilities.
While the staff were amazingly friendly & attentive, the menu itself could definitely use a little more refinement: All the specialty cocktails we ordered were just a touch too sweet or had something slightly off about the flavor. The food was decent, with the simpler the item, the better the taste; The Bulgogi Quesadilla was greasy & bland, while the Truffle Fries were perfectly seasoned & delicious.
All-in-all a pleasant experience, but the whole place feels like it's still struggling to learn it's identity. I hope it does, as it seems destined for either abject failure or utter...
Read moreVaguely magic-themed bar in a KTown strip mall. Came here on a Saturday night around 9 to grab a quick drink after dinner with 3 other friends and were able to seat ourselves immediately. There are karaoke rooms in the back. There’s high top tables and bar seating available (only indoors). The employees were all friendly. If you write a review on Yelp, you can get a free shot (I didn’t partake in this while I was there unfortunately.
We split a flight of elixirs, which were healthy alcoholic shots (that’s the best way to describe them). There were 6 different shots with an oz of each alcohol in each vial. The garlic was the worst one for me, as it was drinking hot garlic juice, and the goji was the best one. It was fun to try weird flavors with friends, but I wouldn’t order a flight for myself. The other cocktails they had looked cute and later on in the night, there was a sparkler situation for a bday celebration happening at the table next to us. Valet parking in the lot or find street parking. Credit cards accepted. They do have a happy hour from 6-9pm Monday...
Read moreDrinks are great and the waitresses are super cute. Pricing is about 10-20 for cocktails and they have selection of "medicinal" drinks between 10-15. I got the butterfly (nabi) cocktail twice and it comes with a lemon mica glitter "potion" you swirl in. Friends got the plum infusion vodka (mesil-ju) and they claim it tastes like whisky with a hint of plum, so I ended up finshing their drinks. It's good if you like green plum and know what it is, but I don't think their "medicinal" drinks are for everyone. The tables outside are for potions and poisons, not the store next door so there's plenty of seats. The inside only has 4 small tables and they're usually full by 6-7, so expect to...
