El Pollo Loco — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Absolutely terrible service. Came here on a Thursday evening since we had a coupon for a $10 8 piece mixed chicken, only to be told that they were entirely out of dark meat and only had breasts and wings. We're thinking, okay that's fine, we'll just take an 8 piece breasts and wings. The cashier rings us up and starts charging us the white meat surcharge for each additional breast and wing, bringing the total after coupon to $18, almost double what we should have paid.

We tried reasoning with the cashier briefly--clearly in these situations, if a restaurant is at fault, it's on them to rectify the situation. Definitely shouldn't be an opportunity for them to upcharge customers. Cashier refused to give us the original $10 price and at one point the manager steps in. Manager also refuses to back down, but to his credit, does offer us some free sides. Thanks, but no thanks. Frankly, I'm not in love with the sides here, and we came in for the chicken only. I'm not interested in paying $18 for 8 pieces of chicken and a couple of subpar sides.

Do yourself a favor and grab a whole chicken from California Chicken Cafe instead. Prices are the same and the quality of the chicken and customer service there are much...

A pleasant surprise!

I saw a lot of posts on social media about the burrito grillers at El Pollo Loco and decided to give it a try.

When I got my order to-go, it came in a well designed, colorful box. When I opened the box, the burritos looked deceivingly small… but the entire meal was surprisingly filling.

The burritos themselves were solid. The chicken had a grilled/smoky flavor, and was stuffed with onion, cheese and a lot of cilantro. These would have been pretty boring if it wasn’t for the dipping sauce. The meal comes with a savory chili dipping sauce mixed with some queso blanco. The warm sauce really made the meal what it is.

Another underrated thing about El Pollo is their Chips ( which came with the meal). I’m not sure if they double fry them, but they taste damn good with some guac salsa.

I recommend give this meal a try while it’s still in stores. As for the overall menu of El Pollo, it’s much better then I remember, but I think it’s very dependent on the location and the employees working there. To which this one was...

Horrible customer service. Told a male cashier if my order was ready and he said they were still preparing it. I waited for my name to be called but never was. I had to go back to the counter when the lady turned around and began cleaning. The same male cashier noticed I was back but didn’t bother to help me. The lady kept her back towards me so I had to call for her attention. When I asked again if my order was ready she acted as if she didn’t knew I was here for the pickup and handed me the to go bag that has been sitting there. I come here often so it’s not surprising the lady who hands out the orders acted the way she did. They really need to retrain their employees about customer service especially the ones that interact with the public. I do want to mention that I was contacted by the store about what happened but I still want to write a review of my experience. This is not the first time their service was back but after this experience I will not be coming back to...
