10/31 update: after submitting this review, I got an email response back from Hi Tops and this issue was promptly resolved.
The drinks and environment are great, so why am I giving this place a 1-star review? tl;dr keep your receipts and make sure you're charged what you authorized. Or I guess just pay in cash. And if you dig into the other reviews you'll see I am not the only one who has had this exact same issue.
I made three separate transactions in a 1.5-hour span, tipped on all three, but when I checked my credit card statement I noticed that every single posted transaction was for an amount higher than what I had clearly written down on the receipt. If it was only on one receipt, I could chalk it up to an honest mistake. But on all three....? It's really suspicious, and an easy way for the bartenders to steal money from its customers. I called the bar multiple times, but no one picked up, and I couldn't even leave a VM because the inbox was full. I also sent an email, but haven't received a response....
Read moreMy boo and I, both straight and cis, went to a 'women's sportsbar' up in Seattle and we thought it was great so we were excited to check it out for a 930 am Angel City game. Truth be told I'm not a huge fan of sports bars OR gay bars most nights but a gay sports bar is an amazing example of the whole being more than the sum of its parts. A couple of observations based on both the Seattle place and this spot: The drinks are amazing, the staff is super excited to be serving in an inclusive environment AND wall to wall sports. What's not to like?
The food took a while to come out but I think the size of the crowd caught them off guard. The food was above average for a sports bar but still sports bar cuisine, as it were. Cocktails are not cheap (16). They have a 30 dollar Gatorade cocktail with a take home water bottle that I seriously considered buying after my bloody Mary, which was good. 100 percent will be back but I really really really wish it was twice the size! You can't...
Read moreThe good: The servers and bartenders were amazing. Worked their tails off and they were super friendly. The bad: What ruined this bar for me was the clientele. If you are a female sports fan, find another bar. There were a few men that spoiled the entire experience. I was bullied out of a tiny bench top table I had been at for two hours by a guy who basically said too bad, this is mine now and shoved his elbow into me. I had food and drinks and three other friends. He kept his elbow on the table and had no food and no drinks. Sadly, had he been cool about it, we’d happily have shared our little space. Instead, he was entitled as if this was his bar. As a major sports fan, I was hoping this would be a go-to place for watching sports with friends. Clearly we are not welcome here by the other patrons. I’ll find another bar to waste my hard earned cash at. Take down Billie Jean King if you’re not genuinely supporting women...
